Surely just protocol rather than a career ruined? What happened to that ref who went in with the head on the ipswich player a few seasons back (I know it wasn't an actual nut but still shouldn't have done it)?

Looking at it yesterday, I thought Robertson grabbed his arm and it was more a shove off movement rather than an attack.

You mean run the line. I believe he will be exonerated when they have completed their investigations and there should be no reason he shouldn’t return to Anfield and finish the job.

Disappointingly, they have to be seen to be doing things correctly and I suppose they had no choice. He will get a slap on the wrists and a demotion for a few games and probably have to attend an anger management class or something similar.
He will be back at the PL level, but doubt he will be involved in a match involving the poor, hard done to, much maligned and all suffering Liverpool.

Regardless of the team involved I think this is a very bad look for the game. In my opinion, Robertson went over to the assistant ref in a strop, grabbed his arm and the AR shrugged him off which led to an accidental contact.
Robertson as anyone who watches the EPL will know, is one of the bigger shythouses and immediately made a big deal of it.
In the cold light of day, taking the emotion out of it, the multi millionaire that is Robertson could easily put this to bed by admitting what actually happened .. alternatively he can let his ego potentially ruin the career of a man who earns a fraction of what he does.

Any deliberate physical contact should be a yellow, minimum, unless you're highlighting an emergency.
