Have to disagree. We had far more experience and depth in Woodgate's squad than we have now. He also had Randolph for half a season, the best keeper we've had here for years.

I'd say some of the current players are better. But as an overall squad, Woodgate had a lot more than Warnock has to work with. And that's partially by design. Warnock is here to use his expertise to keep us safe/competitive in the Championship as we cut costs within the playing squad and overall the recruitment network. The next manager will be the one who benefits from the experience the young players have gained and the careful spending which will allow us, at the right time, to spend as we did under Karanka to build the squad we need to gain promotion.

I'd like to see us push for promotion, and if we're still in the mix for the playoffs I expect Gibson to invest in loan signings to make sure we get there. But everything is being put in place for the long term plan, and scrapping an experienced manager who will keep us well away from danger would be a really bad plan this season.
