They are better as a team because they have been managed better. This bunch are better than the overhyped 'golden generation'.
Global embarrassment? Steady. Southgate has undoubtedly been a success and am delighted he is at the helm but we were not a “global embarrassment”. We just underperformed and Southgate was able to change that dysfunctional so called golden generation with equal talent who can play together. I always thought the problem with England 2006-2014 was that they were playing players because of who they were and not how they fitted in. Southgate changed that.
No it wasn't embarrassing- we were not good enough.Did you watch us fail to qualify in 2008, stink the place out before being embarrassed by virtually Germanys U21s in 2010? Did you see us finish bottom of our group in 2014 and fail to score past footballing giants Costa Rica? Remember the uberhumiliation of Iceland and the omnnishambles of Fat Sam? I think Global embarrassment is pretty accurate.
Agree with the point that Southgate has got them playing as a team, rather than a group of talented individuals though.
Brilliant player, but has had off the field issues. Breaking lockdown to party with his teammates, going to a casino whilst being injured on England duty, being involved in scraps outside clubs. Think his attitude has let him down at times, plus the likes of Mount, Foden, grealish, Saka are all clear imoJames Maddison will have to be considered for the England squad now, he's had a brilliant individual season.

Grealish is sheer classHe's had a much better season than Grealish, who's also had plenty of off the field issues in his time.
Not a chance. This crew have a much higher skill level. They are better as a team because they have been managed better.
Ferdinand, Campbell, Terry, Cole, Scholes, Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard were arguably better individual players than those who play in their positions currently. Same could be said of the 96 and 98 teams.
Not a chance? Ferdinand and Terry were better CBs than Maguire or Stones. Cole was more consistent than Shaw. The golden generation simply couldn’t play effectively as a team. Not a chance. This crew have a much higher skill level.
Tomori and Abraham both doing well in Italy. Both should be in the Nations League squad. Also got to say that there's something seriously wrong if Tomori isn't picked in the next England squad.
He's just won the league title with AC Milan whilst playing a key part in the best defence in the league.
I don't think you can justify excluding him this time.
Should be him and Stones in our next match.
