Pickford

Looked well panicky last night. Don't get me wrong, he's had a good tournament up to now, but his distribution last night was awful and his general demeanour looked like the occasion had got to him. I hope and trust that Sir Gareth will be able to calm him down a bit between now and Sunday.

He has them now and again and hopefully last night was “one of them”. Out of his system and Sunday he will be a national hero.

Some of the passing back to him was shocking to be fair, but he was a little panicky on some of the crosses, albeit they were massive.

He was very flustered at one point, yes. He has had a fantastic tournament, only conceding one goal, and making some amazing saves. He marshalls the troops well at the back and the pressure placed on our team is immense atm.

He has that in him, i too thought the occasion got to him

brilliant shot stopper, questions marks on other aspects

He was way too pumped out. Every time the ball went out of play he screamed at his defenders. Just made himself more nervous. Needs to calm down in the final
Yeah he was, he was playing like he'd had a wrap of speed from about 15 minutes in till half-time, a couple of the back four and the manager were giving him the internally recognised calm the f*#k down gesture!

I was worried we'd get Everton Pickford for the tournament, but to be honest he'd not put a foot (or a hand?) wrong till last night. Nervy but he got away with it.

Might have been the drink, but I think he could have done a bit better on their goal as well, but he saw it quite late and there was a decent amount of dip in the shot, so I'm maybe being a bit harsh.

The Italians will have been watching closely last night. I expect them to loft balls into the box at every possible opportunity.
They're nowhere near the same height as Denmark though, and nowhere near as strong or as good at set-pieces, they probably won't press with the same intensity either.

I think those threats have been and gone, Sunday is a different animal altogether and will be much more on the ground/ technical, I expect (from Italy).
We might play a little bit more like Denmark and do what Denmark did to us, to a degree, except we're better technically (than Denmark, not sure about Italy), so we have other options too.

Good point. I'm more nervous than Pickford!

He certainly isnt a big game player, probably the main concern for Sunday. Once he makes a tiny mistake his heads gone

Think quite a few players nerves showed particularly in the first half hour. Touches and passing were off, defenders just clearing the ball anywhere.
Keeper needs to be a calming presence to the defence, they don’t want to be wondering what he might do next. Hopefully he’ll learn from last night and not be so pumped for the final.

He’s the one player that could improve - he panics so much when kicking! I don’t like the punching rather than catching either.

minor criticism though as he has done well otherwise. Just room for a little improvement.

Italy are a different beast entirely. I agree it will be more 'on the ground' football and I think they are not averse to spoiling tactics either. We seem to have luck on our side and that goes a long way. Alongside a team playing as a team, home advantage, and Gareths tactics all working well so far I am quietly confident.
