An Italian golfing friend of ours runs a local restaurant and one in a town 10 minutes away.

His friend, the world champion, is coming over to do some exhibition pizza making in his restaurant in the other town. For a couple of days THIS week.

I am so looking forward to trying out their pizzas next week.

Title updated: as people started posting about worst and best pizzas.

The best pizza I had was a one off in Milan when I worked there. The cinque stagione. That's right, he took the quattro and made it one season better. Lush

I dont even like pizza, but Golden Boy pizza in San Fransisco is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Only 4 flavours, straight out the oven on foccacia bread and eaten with a craft beer in the dive bar at the back of the restaurant.

I bet they don't put chips on pizza's in Italy. Only in the Boro - never seen that before. Ridiculous!!!!
Usually called a London pizza on the menus I've seen which suggests they might do it elsewhere. Any of our capital dwellers care to confirm? Never tried one myself it's a weird mix of two takeaways, it'd be like having a deep fried naan bread.

Updated: my Italian friend said next week when we talked about this on Sunday afternoon. I have been told that he was then collecting his friend from the airport last night.

For some reason I will wait until LATER THIS WEEK to post my answer about best pizza.

It's one of those things I didn't realise was a Teesside thing until I moved away. Nobody I have ever met outside of Teesside has ever heard of a London pizza.

It's about as London as chicken jalfrezi and egg fried rice.

No idea why it's called that, other than people imagine that Londoners are so posh and wealthy we have chips and Pizza rather than just pizza ?

Best - New York Pizzeria in Las Vegas, I mean eating an Italian dish from a New York themed takeaway place in Las Vegas will probably outrage the purists but it was outstanding at 4am in the morning.

Can't offer up a worst to be honest.

The standard of Pizzas in the UK has gone up significantly in recent years. Small pizza shops/restaurants doing proper pizza all over now. It's not always obvious but even some average looking places get it right. As long as they are using a proper pizza oven and good quality dough it isn't difficult to get a good one. The drop in quality to the slop some takeaways, including the big chains, is noticeable these days. Good pizza doesn't cost a lot either, certainly similarly priced to Dominos etc.

The best one I had was one I made on an Ooni.

It was a mozzarella and nduja pizza drizzled with olive oil and Bad Bagel seasoning.
