plantar fascia

I had it about two years ago, fîckin agony. Took about 12 weeks to clear, was told wearing flat Converse type shoes didn't help. Pain, pain, pain!

I've has it in my feet twice. Once it took 6 months to heal. 2nd time it went in a couple of weeks. Flipping painful.

Oh, sorry, I thought this was about one of the names in Nobby's Notebook. Thought we had a good little player, with some unpredictable footwork lined up then...

Very common when too much strain on achilles or arch especially when new shaped shoes or bare feet suddenly come into play and will happen with age when everything is less flexible to cope. Recovery time obviously a function of how bad the strain / tear is and how old you are. As a young fit guy surrounded by physio's you'd hope it won't be too long if just pulled the heel/arch tendons a bit.

I had it a few years ago, can be absolute agony!

Got told by another footballer that Jordan Henderson had it too and used to play through the pain!

They said it was very unusual to see in a Boro player - but fingers are being crossed that it will be far sooner than longer before he returns to action.

I got this when I became a postie. Lasted about a year. Used to have to go home and put my foot on a bag of frozen peas after every shift. Eventually found some stretches that really helped. Am available to take frozen peas to Riley and stretch his foot.

I've had it too, and it's really uncomfortable with varying amounts of pain depending upon how the plantar fasciitis feels that day, and how much gyp it wants to dish out to you. I had heel supports made for my shoes, tried to walk it off, foot roller, a steroid injection, all of which didn't work and I just suffered for about 18 months. Then it just as quickly as it came , it disappeared, thankfully, but it really was a pain in the ....................... foot:)

I’ve got it currently in my left foot. It’s bizarrely fine most of the day while I’m moving, but the second I sit down **** me do I know about it when I stand up to start moving again. Getting up for a pee in the middle of the night isn’t fun.

Ditto. I’ve had it for about 6 months. I do around 10,000 -15,000 steps a day at work, which is relatively painless (read, painful but bearable) but starting to walk after sitting down for a while is a real killer.

And yes, the shuffle to and from the toilet in the middle of the night, as well as going down stairs, isn’t great either.

This is what the doctor text me when I was first diagnosed with it.

I can’t be àrsed with stuff like this (I’m more of a ‘it’ll clear up on its own, sort of person. Which didn’t quite go to plan when I got appendicitis 😀) but after 6 months I think I might finally give it a go.

I think he said to do it for a period of 3 months before going back to see him.

Might be worth trying for the sufferers on here. 👍🏻

always assumed you worked for Schlumberger....

It's extremely common. A change of shoes can bring it on ... ie. going from a 2 cm heel to toe drop to a zero drop shoe. I get it from time to time and there's usually at least one runner in my training group that will have it at any given time. I had it in combination with bursitis (achilles) earlier this year. That stopped me running for 6 months. I took to wearing Josef Seibel mules, which sorted it.
