Points on the board v Games in hand...

There are some teams with a significant number of games in hand now but we are far better having the points on the board right now.

This will become even more evident when the games start getting played given that they will struggle to fit them all in and the congestion will become a massive issue.

Simply calling games off isn't always the best option.

The more we can keep winning/ picking up points the better. Here's hoping for a good January and some fresh legs coming in to boost us across the pitch.

Potentially a big factor. The Championship schedule is already packed without having to fit in rearranged games. I'm sure Wilder would prefer the games done and points taken like Boro have done.

Agree. We are in great form and in a good position, just focus on ourselves and keep picking up the points and add to the squad like you say and I think we should be absolutely fine. Bring it on

Plus we'll be playing these teams with games in hand at some point

Not counting cup games the current schedule is

4 in January
6 in February
4 in March
6 in April
1 in May

Going to busy for some teams if they continue to have games cancelled

Yes thick and fast and of course Covid isn’t going away so could get worse for teams.

Points in the bag are far better. I know technically it's a 'false position' yet its points in the bag.

It's not just that they have to catch up. They will also have a bit of fixture congestion. So teams will be playing mid week whilst we have a free week. Also may have to play one before playing us days later. So it all helps.

I presume Saturday will be fine. The 2 sheff utd games called off have been by the opponents.

Was good for us to play as we had momentum, some clubs on a bad run might benefit from not playing.

It would be great to use the FA Cup to blood a few fringe players, but I hope a good run wouldn't distract us or add pressure to our schedule.

I can see the season being extended as more games are postponed due to the high infection rate. We may see or season ending earlier than other clubs.

Points in the bag everytime, was it 11 games in 23 days when we played in the UEFA final, no chance of extending the season for us. is there not internationals due at the season end?

We haven’t had a period of poor weather either. A couple more cancellations there, a team goes on a cup run. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an extension

Neither would I but with improvement in ground protection technology and global warming it’s rare these days to see mass weather postponements.

There's not a big backlog yet. QPR have two games in hand on Boro and only one midweek match scheduled in January.

Games in hand are more important at the top of the table, points on the board at the bottom.

As they say in cricket it’s scoreboard pressure. The likes of Stoke might have two games in hand, three until yesterday, but as we’ve already taken maximum points from those in hand games then they become must win games in hand - as last night‘s game against Derby showed.
