Qatar Grand Prix

Who knows there may be mitigating circumstances however the usual penalty for this is a 3 place grid drop.
Only if you go faster in that sector than you had previously. Obviously the stewards will look at the telemetry from the cars as well but as I said and was mentioned in the commentary the track according to the bar on the right hand side of the TVs screen showed the track to be clear

The stewards should have access to all telemetry and video footage (although they didn't last week).

Think his onboard showed yellows being waved but his steering wheel showed green. Tricky one but the rules seem to suggest a penalty

You can see from the onboard that he passed a yellow flag. Drivers have had grid drops in the past for the same offense, so its down the the stewards yet again.

Edit - the video has been pulled, but it was the onboard footage from Verstappens car, and there is a yellow flag alomg the straight, before he crossed the finish line

I imagine the FIA will lose the footage. If he doesn’t get pinged for ignoring yellow flags then the persecution of Mercedes will be all too obvious
Like I said and was mentioned in the commentary the yellow flags were clear and the green symbol was on the side of the screen when both Bottas and Verstappen entered the final sector of the race track and it remained green for the rest of qualifying. So not exactly a slam dunk for either driver.

Breaking news.

Bottas 10 place grid penalty

Vercrashen promoted to pole as he would have been fastest if everything had gone in his favour, and to prevent him from refusing to eat his greens and go to bed when told the stewards have bottled it again.

Side note. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Mazepin. He was really emotional last week when he had a decent lap then screwed it up at the end and his car has practically self destructed this weekend

Yes because it's not like he's just in the car for his Dad's fortune.

Like Stroll then? You could also say that Verstappen, Sainz and Schumacher are all in F1 due to their father's influence too.

In reality they've all earned enough points for a super licence so they all deserve it to some extent.

Besides if you're going to stop people driving because they started by bringing money in to the sport you're basically going to have Esteban Ocon racing on his own. Which would be boring.

I just think he's had a tough time lately. (Mazepin that is)

While I partially agree it's very difficult to judge when he's also in an uncompetitive car but I'm not convinced.

Mercedes won’t believe their luck if max gets a penalty and is behind bottas on the grid who also gets a penalty

I bet that doesn’t happen. I just don’t trust the FIA at the moment they seem to be persecuting Mercedes at the moment
When it’s happened previously ignoring a double waved yellow was a 5 place grid penalty and single yellow was 3 places. Don’t think they will dare not award the correct penalty this week or it makes it all very obvious
