It would have been better for the team has Rogers stayed but Carrick, at least in public, supported the sale of Rogers and his wish to take on the challenge at villa.* Carrick didn't have "a Premier League level player sold from under him halfway through the season".
He stated quite clearly several times in public, in front of the camera's and on the radio, that Villa had made an offer for Rogers, who expressed a desire to move back to the West Midlands. Carrick accepted Rogers wanted the move, fully understood it was an excellent opportunity for him, and the club negotiated the best deal for the Boro.
As a side note: he didn't have Crooks sold from under him, either. Crooks was offered the chance to play in America and take his family. Crooks himself said it was an unmissable opportunity, and Carrick agreed.
Good morning young man, and what a luvverly day so far. 18 debrees c. earlier. It would have been better for the team has Rogers stayed but Carrick, at least in public, supported the sale of Rogers and his wish to take on the challenge at villa.
As I recall there were plenty of people slating Rogers as not good enough for where we want to be never mind where villa are and it wouldn't be uncommon for those posters to attempt to rewrite history.
Anyway roofie I agree. And a very good morning to you. Sunny as here.
I think this is down to the lack of players available to him though. Obviously we've had a lot of injuries so often only had 11-14 senior players available with players like Silvera and Gilbert being the only senior options off the bench. With a couple of full backs.Overall an 8, though this season has been a bit sketchy in places and is probably a 6.5, whereas last season was more like a 9.
I’m still frustrated by his substitutions, though of late they have been much better and more timely.
If you're going to quote me roofie, use the quote function lad.* Carrick didn't have "a Premier League level player sold from under him halfway through the season".
