Fck really don't like Real Madrid and will probably find away to win the tie but they are horrible very frustrating

No, but I mean I’m not Spanish myself so why does it matter? I feel “kinship” with neither. The suggestion from Norm was that I should support the English club over the Spanish club, presumably because I’m English.

If neither are English I’ll support the corrupt outfit that set the most reasonable laws (if you go along with the idea that Real Madrid are basically protected by the monarchy).
 
I think Barca recently fielded a side with not one Spanish player. What kind of message does that send a young lad looking to push all his youthful energy to get into the local team?

Real Madrid are heavily backed by US investors. As terrible as the homophobia and misogyny can be in Islamic countries I'm not sure that the US human rights record is any better than any middle eastern country. In fact it's probably worse.

I haven't suggested you should support the English team because you are English, I just think the argument (They’re hosted in Manchester but they don’t feel remotely “English” to me.) you put forward is a little childish.

Ok. So it’s Abu Dhabi v USA/Spanish monarchy. As I said above, I’m none of these nationalities, so I will go with the regime that I think has the least oppressive laws.

Well it’s just my honest opinion. They don’t feel very English to me (and neither do a few other clubs). I’m not making a statement I believe to be factual, it’s just how I feel. I don’t expect you to feel the same way if you don’t want to.

I note that you simply said “each to their own”
when Otto made a very similar point, to which I was agreeing with with my post.

If you read the first post you will notice I changed it in the original post (predictive text on the phone).

I'm not trying to draw you into any argument and have never done it in the past, it is called chatter on a message board.

Edit: It is funny others have called you out on this but it is me who is drawing you into an argument.

No one else has said “childish” or “churlish”, so I just wanted you to explain that. And why you didn’t use those terms towards Otto.

More than happy to debate it using non-inflammatory language, if you are.

So as I say, what is “childish” about my opinion?
