The childish part is saying City are a team hosted in Manchester but they don’t feel remotely “English”. I would expect a school kid to put that kind of argument up, not an adult. No one else has said “childish” or “churlish”, so I just wanted you to explain that. And why you didn’t use those terms towards Otto.
More than happy to debate it using non-inflammatory language, if you are.
So as I say, what is “childish” about my opinion?

Ok. So it’s Abu Dhabi v USA/Spanish monarchy. As I said above, I’m none of these nationalities, so I will go with the regime that I think has the least oppressive laws.
He’s missed every single foul throw by Madrid ,one foot up when taking the throw is a foul throw, the assistant ref is yards away and doesn’t pull it up.Referee has been very good not getting pressurised by Madrid antics
I would say more of City’s success is down to corrupt funds than Real’s.State sponsored torture? Tens of thousands of executions? Racially motivated police murders? Illegal wars that have killed hundreds of thousands civilians? The orange fella? Gun laws?
I'm just playing devil's advocate really, but I don't think the argument "don't support them they get money from a country that does bad things" works really.
SuperKevIf Boro aren't playing, I want any team with KdB in it to win
SPAIN'S government has been found guilty of illegally funding Real Madrid and Barcelona.I would say more of City’s success is down to corrupt funds than Real’s.
Even if we agree that they’re as bad as each other, you have to pick a team don’t you. I’m certainly not suggesting I love Real Madrid.
SPAIN'S government has been found guilty of illegally funding Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The European Commission has ruled Spain provided state-funding to help the clubs gain an unfair advantage over their rivals.
For me it’s because this is want FIFA/UEFA/PL wanted, they wanted the product to get huge and wanted football to be awash with money, the trouble is when they thought this was a good idea they assumed the English team from the north west that would dominate would not the blue half of it and now I’m they’ve opened the bottle the genie cannot be put back in.Fully agree. I haven’t cared about English clubs winning the CL since Liverpool won it in 2005, and even then it was largely just cos they were the underdog.
I also don’t really understand the take that Man City are this plucky little underdog who’ve been given a load of money and it’s a big statement to football if they win. To me it’s more like a big statement from some messed up and backward Middle Eastern states that they can buy whatever they want if they win the CL.
I want Madrid to win, at least they have what they have for mostly footballing reasons (14 CL titles and counting) and then the Milan club to win the final.
Hmmm. Ok, well my own opinions are more driven by cynicism of Middle Eastern oil states and their motives than cynicism of the motives of football authorities. I do see them as the worst of the two evils, by quite a big distance. I think the idea that those states can buy whatever they want is deeply concerning. For me it’s because this is want FIFA/UEFA/PL wanted, they wanted the product to get huge and wanted football to be awash with money, the trouble is when they thought this was a good idea they assumed the English team from the north west that would dominate would not the blue half of it and now I’m they’ve opened the bottle the genie cannot be put back in.
Long live City and their billions!!!!
