Realistic expectations of England’s chances

Looking at the history of the tournament Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and the old USSR are the only countries to have reached the final multiple times.

Only Greece and the Netherlands are only time winners (both only appearing in one final too).

England are up against it in terms of reaching the latter stages let alone final.

No but they had a German tactical
Mastermind as manager. That’s why they won.
Well, certainly fair to say that towards the end of his career he achieved some fantastic stuff.

Nowadays, he wouldn't have ended up managing Greece, a Premier League team would have thrown buckets of cash at him by now.

it made it a great competition to watch for us, doubt it helped the players sat in Russia much though
I dunno, you wouldn't think so, but lots of players have said they pick up on a lot of the 'mood' back home and it can affect their overall mindset.

Think we have good a chance as any but Think fatigue will set in by the end (semis or final) Most of our first 11 have played alot of games and it takes the edge off performances

can we really have that excuse, other countries play just as many games, and many of the best players are in the prem playing the same number of games anyway

Those thinking England can win just need to look at the tournament history. There is nothing to suggest England will do much. If the players are thinking likewise they will fail.

One game at a time and see how things develop.

If we win our group which I think we will we play 2nd place of group F
Hungary Portugal France Germany. difficult
If we come second we play 2nd in group E
Spain Sweden Poland Slovakia slightly easier?
But then we play winner of group F in QF .
We are going to play some good teams but at our best I think we can win the competition. Time to get behind the team stick your flag on your car and crack a can of two!!!!

The players in the top clubs get plenty of rest through rotation as well, they're in very big, top quality squads.

Denmark surely?

But the fact England have never won it is an anomaly, when you look at the economics of it all. 'Form' can be as much a reason to bet for something as it can be to bet against something. One day it will correct itself, though I agree it shouldn't be 'expected'.

You play a tournament with your current squad not historical squads. It's irrelevant what we have done in the past. The biggest threat to a good performance is that some England fans are bringing right wing hate to the table and using it as a tool to attack and undermine an intellectual manager, and attack players that want to fight racism. It could ruin camp harmony....then again it might make an us and them mindset

Does that include appearances on the bench?
