Results with No Spectators

There must be some correlation between these bizarre results and no spectators!

1. Effect of empty stadiums on the players - no crowd involvement. If I was a player it would have a negative impact on me. Some will say 'Yes, but they are professionals'

2. Refereeing decisions - no 'home' crowd influence. The ref. on Saturday as one example was not only poor but totally biased towards Barnsley, and I'm trying not to be biased myself.

Whilst I'm on does anyone else not like watching TV footy as much because there's no crowd atmosphere?

Can't wait to watch some live footy with a few thousand others.

Early on there was a study done showing -
free kicks and red cards more evenly distributed and less ‘passionate’ tackling from both teams.
I also seem to recall better results for away teams

Let's not forget the change in football style which is now catching up, thanks to having a couple of decent managers of successful clubs with attacking philosophies.

It's not just in the top layers, have a look at some of the local levels, where support is allowed.

I think the intensity and the style of football has changed without the crowd, players are more relaxed and probably taking more risks at the back without crowd baying at them to get rid of the ball, also I think defenders are switching off more, without the crow to keep them on their toes

It'll effect different players differently you'd think. Probably beneficial to young players who are used to playing without crowds. Experienced players probably find it stranger and possibly harder to get going.

Personality types will make a difference too. Some will feed off the crowd, others probably find it best to try and filter them out anyway so maybe won't make much difference to them.

Glass half full view maybe but hopefully having people like Warnock and Blackwell in the dugout who are very vocal will be better than your "calm" Arsene Wenger types. More onus on the coaches to fire up the players without a crowd?

While I agree no fans in the stadium must have an effect, you also have to bare in mind the quick turnaround in seasons and lack of pre-season for some teams who were playing in Europe in August.

Spurs are one team that don’t appear to have been affected by this quick turnaround. But agree. Man City, Wolves Liverpool and Man U may be possibly jaded.

Definitely a noticeable reduction in bad tackles and also a side product in that players are harassing referees less.

The whole game seems to be being played at a slower pace. I guess this is due to less intensity due to know crowd pressure. Its not like they are getting abuse for misses or not moving the ball quick enough.

The strange thing is many players are clearly benifiting from the extra time and space. Also some that maybe got stick from crowds will be more confident👍. I think it's and easier situation for new signings to gel without crowd expectations.

It will be very interesting to see what happens when crowds come back. Will these players go back into a shell? On things for sure it really does legate the whole home and away advantage. The champo is definitely wide open and a whole season without crowds could throw up some strange playoff sides (including ourselves👍)

How were they measuring passionate tackling?
