Rittenhouse walks!

He'll be dead within 6 months, if not sooner.
Kyle, meet Lee Harvey Oswald.
Ridiculous and unfounded nonsense and to be honest disrespectful to the life of another human being who has just been acquitted of a crime by his peers , how would you feel if that was posted after one of your family members had been acquitted of a crime , some people on here need to have a think before they post .

I don't think he will be.

6ix9ine sang like a canary in court outing one of the most dangerous gangs in New York and the majority of its members and he's not dead. Hell even Zimmerman walks around and isn't dead.

Left, right, centre, it doesn't matter. All the evidence came out in court and the jury made its decision. He was shot at first aswell, not just a gun pointed at him. Self defense against three convicted criminals. (Level 3 been the the worst level sex offender in America by the way).

A quote from Orwell's 1984 which sprung to mind after catching up with the trial (and MSNBC been banned from the court room).

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command"

Didn't anyone actually watch the trial overview? Here's what came out in court.

Rittenhouse was one of around 100 people that were asked to protect businesses after days of looting and burning, because the police failed to protect the streets. While Rittenhouse is not from Kenosha, his father does live in the city and evidently many of Rittenhouse's friends also live there. Rumour has it that the police were told to stand down by the Mayor, who was up for re-election. Rittenhouse was given the rifle while in Kenosha. In Wisconsin it is legal for a 17 year old to carry a long gun. Outside of cities rifles are standard in most rural areas in North America - where hunting as family groups is popular and guns are sometimes necessary to kill rabid coyotes for example.

Rittenhouse was somehow separated from his friends, and a convicted 5 times paedophile named Joseph Rosenbaum, a biopolar sufferer who had been released from a psychiatric institution the week earlier but wasn't taking his meds, attacked Rittenhouse shouting that he would kill him. Not that it's relevant but Rosenbaum forced one child to perform oral acts. After Rosenbaum attempted to grab Rittenhouse's gun the 17 year old fired three shots from his rifle killing Rosenbaum.

At this Rittenhouse was chased down the street by a mob of other people. One of these people caught Rittenhouse and started beating him, at which point he fired two more shots but hit no one. A moment later Rittenhouse is attacked by Anthony Huber and beaten over the head with a skateboard. In response Rittenhouse fired a single shot killing Anthony Huber. Huber also had a record of violence (he attacked his own grandmother).

Finally a fourth person, Gaige Grosskreutz, attacks Rittenhouse and lunges toward him pointing a pistol at him that Grosskreutz had concealed. Rittenhouse shot and wounded Grosskreutz, who also has a criminal record. Rittenhouse was not firing shots indiscriminately according to the evidence from witnesses.

As soon as he'd managed to clear the mob, Rittenhouse ran towards the police and handed himself in.

You can argue that Rittenhouse was an idiot for being present on the streets with a rifle. But there were many people on the streets with guns during that period. (In fact concealed carry laws apply in a number of states so you never know who has a gun). What is undeniable from the evidence is that Rittenhouse was attacked without provocation. There is little doubt he would have died or have been severely injured had he not opened fire, and a jury of 12 of his peers - not necessarily predisposed towards Rittenhouse - saw the evidence and acquitted.

You would know almost nothing of the above if you had only watched CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS or NBC. MSNBC had Rittenhouse as a White Supremacist (there's zero evidence for this) who killed dozens of black Americans (none of the victims was black).

The absolute state of this: https://www.vice.com/en/article/7kbv49/matt-gaetz-wants-rittenhouse-as-intern

“We may reach out to him and see if he'd be interested in helping the country in additional ways,” Gaetz said on Wednesday. Grade A pr*ck. Putting Rittenhouse on a pedestal following this will only further inflame the divide in America, and where it leads, in the end, will be disastrous. It is like the country is on a path to civil war.

'In additional ways' ... You couldn't make his sh1t up.

The GOP as a party has been destroyed by Trump, it's now dominated by doyles like Gaetz. Marjorie Taylor Green is another who is absolutely unhinged. The way Biden/Dems are polling everywhere I'd say there is a massive chance that Trump will be re-elected come 2024. Just brilliant.

Not so sure. He'll be 78 won't he? After the experience with Biden I think Trump will be asked to be an "elder statesman" and endorse someone like De Santis. Trump might just win given the way things are going, but De Santis would be a shoe in. One things certain - no politician will win for the Republicans without Trumps backing. Managing the PR around a Trump endorsement will be the hard part.

To know why you just need check the Fed wealth metrics. Up until Covid-19 hit, the poorest 50% of the US population had doubled their wealth during the Trump era. But their allegiance doesn't come for free. When Trump started boasting about getting vaccines created quickly he was jeered at a recent rally. The Christian right isn't too keen on aborted feotus cells being used to test the vaccines and they let him know. This is the main reason US vaccine take up isn't as high as elsewhere. Pfizer hid the information for this reason, but it was leaked by an employee.

Should be an interesting few years in US politics. Marjorie Taylor Green is threatening to fund primaries for any Republican seen as not following Trumps line and it sounds like she has the financial muscle to do it.

The GOP wasn't destroyed by Trump. He just picked up the corpse. The GOP was destroyed by corrupt politicians and neo-Cons who sucked the life blood out of the USA and started unwinnable foreign wars (and the Democrats have their share).

Can't argue with the civil war comment though.

Speaking of facts, aren’t you much more likely to be killed by a white police officer if you’re black in the US?
Statistically if you're unarmed you're more likely to be killed by any police officer if you're white than if you're black.

Armed may be a different matter - but that's a lottery anyway. Between 2000 and 2018 162,000 African Americans were killed in the USA in total.

According to the CDC, "Black males ages 15 to 34 are the most disproportionately impacted. Despite making up just two percent of the population, they accounted for 37 percent of all gun homicides in 2019 — a rate of firearm homicide that is 20 times higher than white males of the same age group". Most of those shootings are black on black.

One weekend in Chicago recently...

Yeah you b***ds, how do think that Sontaran of a Mother feels next time she's driving her Hitler Youth offspring to his next shoot 'em up? Honestly some people!

Rittenhouse did not cross county or state lines with an assault weapon — he was actually in Kenosha cleaning off the graffiti from the walls left by the rioting mob from the night before. Anyone caught in a riot probably would do the same — defend yourself at all costs. Let the lawsuits begin —Rittenhouse will have a great opportunity to sue the likes of CNN, MSNBC and many of the other news organizations who slandered his name every which way but loose— using such words as “Rittenhouse’ tears were white supremacy tears” a crazy statement made by an international news organization.

Imagine he endorses someone like Marjorie Taylor Green :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: .. won't happen, but terrifying to picture.

I think it will be a GOP victory in 2024 but you are probably right in saying Trump will put his weight behind another candidate come to think of it. I dread to think of who this will be. He still seems determined to run again in the meantime though, by the sounds of things and it feels like his cronies within the GOP are prepared to get behind him. Most of the GOP are terrified of losing support among 'the base' if they cut ties with Trump I guess,, There are only the likes of Kinzinger/Cheney and one or two others I can think of who are not right up his ar5e!

The great divide in America is festering though and I dread to think of what it brings over the years to come. Seems all of the lessons in history will gradually be unlearned, discarded and we are just waiting for things to erupt.

Don`t know nearly enough about US law but didn`t he just get off due to the 2nd Amendment (self defence claim)?
He got off because the jury found him not guilty. As far as I'm aware, we don't know the details of how and why they reached that decision.

His defence team did argue self defence, however the right to self defence is not related to the second amendment.

One wonders if Zuckerberg Android 2.0 had his chequebook ready too after the crap his company threw Rittenhouse's way and what they actively promoted and let be said on Facebook.

You can see why he got off, and it does seem he was acting in self defence under American law. Seems bonkers to me that you can kill people in the scenarios rittenhouse found himself in, but I don’t make American law

what I will see although he’s killed people with a criminal background, im not sure what the relevance of bringing that up is

hes innocent in American law, nothing to see here. Not sure what skin colour or being killed by police officers has to do with any of it.

Just watched coverage of the case on BBC news. No mention of the gun used by one of the assailants amongst other omissions. Not great reporting and little wonder many have drawn the wrong conclusions.

When your laws allow you to openly carry an assault rifle and grant you the right to use it in a deadly manner to defend yourself then what do you expect?
He may have been shot at first, but under those same criteria I mentioned above, who is to say that shot was not fired in self defence when confronted by a man wielding an assault rifle?
Had Rittenhouse not been there armed with a rifle then the situation would not have occurred.
As for Biden being unhappy with the verdict, that is his right in the US and it should in no way be used as a political device to deviate from the fact that America's gun laws and the second amendment are more akin to the wild west than a modern, civilised society.

Sometimes I read threads on here and think - I don’t know enough about this to add a informed comment. This is one of them for me. On the bare bone reporting I feel I should be outraged - on the detail I feel I am reading about a completely different incident. I will stay out if this one.
