Robert Jenrick clearly on message

Because the sole purpose of the SNP is to gain independence, surely you can see the difference in why some tories are doing it. They have been told to do it, or are you nieve enough to think they all had the idea at the same time.
I don't think anyones getting "their knickers in a twist" , it's just sad and laughable in equal measures
Surely you can understand then that the sole purpose and mandate of the last general election for this government was ‘get brexit done’

It's done, the latest charade is to address how do we keep the sheep on board. Ted had the same problem with dougal.

Given the lack of political protest methods, we should make use of ridicule as much as possible.

Come St Georges day and the good people of England will again be up in arms if anyone dare suggest that the Flag shouldnt be displayed in case it offends anybody.

Speaking of Ted and Dougal I was watching Simon Coveney the other day and as Irish Foreign Minister he was stood in front of a tricolour (admittedly not in his front room) and had one in his lapel as well. The thing is he didn’t strike me as either laughable or infantile. I’d stick the shot of it on here if I knew how . I doubt very much if anyone was up in arms about him doing this and as far as I know Eire gained independence ninety odd years ago so I don’t think he’s on the stump for that either.

There’s a lot of things to bash the tories with, they are diabolical. Not sure the flags should be a focal point.

This is an idea that the far right are very keen on.

I don't know that anyone, anywhere, has ever been stopped from flying the flag as it might cause offence. I recall one viral claim in particular, claiming a pub I know had been closed for doing it. It was open and flying the flag, and had received no complaints.

The right wing would like us to believe that this happens all the time. It doesn't.

It's the use of flags as a political tool. They've got people defending them purely based on apathetic nationalism. I wouldn't mind if there was substance behind it

I can understand Irish Patriotism, you are a citizen of a fairly new country that was repressed by its far stronger neighbour for hundreds of years.I
I can understand any citizens need to express solidarity with its own republic.
I can't understand why "subjects of a ruler", whose system has oppressed them for just as long as the Irish, but only within its own borders, should wave the Flag , as if they are part of the club.
It depresses me seeing Union Flags or the Flag of St George hanging from grotty rotten windows , I expect it sat behind Tory Cabinet ministers, it's theirs after all.
I can fully understand the Saltaires, the tricolours, red dragon, I appreciate the " help for heroes" sentiments, even the silly Yorkshire or Cornwall flags, all as a protest or a sign of pride.
I just can't see what some people have to be proud of in a country whose system of privilege and inherited wealth and power is designed to keep the majority "in their place" and whose ideology is as far away from levelling up as vertical is to horizontal.

It's just blatant flag waving opportunism.

Who remembers when the Tory's needed the support of the DUP and they suddenly started labelling themselves as the 'Conservative & Unionist Party'?

As soon as they had their majority they dropped the Unionist element like a stone.

There will be uproar if it isn't the St. George flag. Remember last year on one WhatsApp group someone posted a Union Jack with the comment Happy St George's Day and got pelters. Mainly from those in our group who are ex armed froces.

In my view they are misappropriating the flag.

As the current government strip away more and more of our rights and freedoms whilst displaying the Union flag then it becomes a symbol of oppression.

Aside from that it just looks childish and ridiculous to have it in a corner of your living room/I bet Jenrick calls it a man cave. What would you think if you went to someone's house and they had a flag in the living room?
MAN......cave??😁

So my distinct impression was correct then? British patriotism bad all others good.

So what is the difference between a pub, a neighbour, a garage, Buckingham Palace or an MP flying or displaying the flag without being made out to be 'point scoring'?
