Roy Chubby Brown petition

The whole cancel culture narrative seems a bit “Daily Mail” to me.

“Be very afraid, because THEY are coming for Christmas, nativity plays, comedians and the British way of life”

Just stay in your lane, if you want to go then go, if you don’t then don’t. Far too many people on all sides who are pre- offended and wound tighter than a child spring.

True, but these venues know what they're getting when they book Chubby Brown to appear at their venue.

As atypical said, surely they shouldn't be booking him in the first place if they're not prepared to see through their commitment. It doesn't exact reflect well on the venue....."Sorry, we know his act can offend, we decided to book him regardless but we will now cancel the event to save face".
“His act reflected our values until we got a few negative tweets and boycott threats about it, so we’ve now decided that it doesn’t.”

Saw manning at the rock garden. Yrp the rock garden, he couldn't handle the crowd, spat his dummy out and walked after 20 mins.
He was also the first person to book john Cooper Clarke if my memory serves me right ?

Probably one of the few acts my father in law, who owned the place, booked himself I'm guessing.

I’m not sure schools should be doing nativity plays. It shouldn’t be the job of government or a good use of tax payer money to pay for religious indoctrination. If parents want to put their kids in nativity plays then they should do it via their local churches. But hey, that’s slightly off topic

Any idea what happened to the record collection, some great punk songs in it.

Record collection ?

I do know that only a few years ago he threw all the contracts, posters etc for the Rock Garden that he'd shoved in storage for many years as he didn't / doesn't realize the cultural significance the place had.

Yes they played records before the bands came on, Most of the posters were just dayglo hand written announcing forthcoming bands above the bar , the contracts would have been trove. Haven’t been in the building since 1979, would love a look round.

Right. I can say with some certainty that they weren't his records, unless of course they played Luther Vandross and Lionel Richie before the bands came on :ROFLMAO:.

I haven't been in since probably 2003 or something, when it was the Arena of course and I spent prettty much every Friday night of the 90's in there. My wife actually remembers going to The Rock Garden after school and up to her Dad's office which I think was on the top floor rather than the middle floor, which is where they had the offices when it was the Arena.

Here's what it looks like today:-

They must have been from the marimba, 😎thanks for the info.👍

Do people still refer to their wife that way? Sounds a bit 1950s to me.
Unless of course for some reason you have more than one lady to call upon. Good ones and bad ones. Maybe one of the bad ones would go and see Chubby? Is that why you think they are bad ladies?

I like that

Just a conversational remark which I don’t use in real life 😒
Usually use ‘partner’

Once I re read it- I go crikey
She is definitely not mine…….

And, having a further think. I don’t believe in good or bad people.
I do believe people do good and/or bad things.
