Ryan Giles on loan to Leeds

Its amazing how players get worse when they leave us with no chance of coming back.
Not really carrick is an inspirational manager its quite understandable they wont hit the same heights elsewhere. Look at poor archer he has to work with that motivational dinasour wilder poor lad

He needs to do as TAA has done & get moved into midfield as it's his passing esp crossing that is his strength, defending is very average at best..

It's funny how the past gets re-written. Giles was class for us last season and was crucial to how we played. Not great defensively and may not be PL level but I really wanted him back in the summer. Offer me him vs our two left backs this season and I would still probably pick Giles. The fact that we aren't set on a first choice left back shows that neither has done enough to entirely convince us if they are good enough.

Giles was great, I'd have no problem with him coming back at some point. Can't be now though. Even if you think he's a better player than Engel and/or Bangura our whole model is young players improving and being sold for profit. We can't accommodate 3/4 LBs in the squad. Engel and Bangura need to be playing.

Giles had a great season for us, his creativity was outstanding. You need to be more than creative in the top flight, it's a big step up. You have to be a competent defender too, and that is his downfall.

He'll do well at Leeds facing Championship defenders and in a team able to dominate most of the opposition, like last year.

We're a different team this year, his crosses wouldn't be picked up by our current strikers and he'd be getting stick for it, as Engel and Bangura do.

Coulsen replacement ;)

Thought it was Luton gazumping on the fee at the last minute?
We agreed a fee with Wolves and assumed it was a done deal until Luton came in and offered him a higher wage. Giles camp came back to us and asked us to improve our offer, albeit saying he would accept less that what Luton were offering. We refused to budge so he signed for Luton.

Giles was excellent for us, he had issues defending but honest to god i'd have him back in a heartbeat. He offers so much more than Bangura and Engel, they may come good but early signs are that in that position Giles is twice the player of those two.
Him as LWB with Jones RWB, brilliant, if he goes to Leeds it'll kill me seeing all his assists week after week.

I agree he is, but he would of eaten up a much bigger proportion of our summer spend and, so far, it seems he isn't up to PL football, so if we had gone up and signed him it may have been a mistake.
