So he's Ipswich captain in the premiership and having seen him last season he puts in a shift
Can anyone understand why his spell with us was so below par overall .
Was it wrong club? Injured...over weight?
Bad management ...what happened...

He didn't want leave the Boro - wasn't he sold to pay for Payero? or the Cameroon International player who hardly played for us. I remember Neil Warnock was a bit upset and he was right to be.

Most posters on here didn't rate him any higher than a low level Championship clogger. With Morsy we moved from being relegation battlers to a top half team.

I don’t remember too many complaints about him other than too many cards. I don’t remember much praise either mind you.

Morsy wasn’t a disaster I just didn’t think he was all that great when he was here. Others disagree, and for me, view him with rose tinted specs in the time he was here.

He’s done well at Ipswich, but he’s obviously taken a drop down to league one and then became an integral part of an Ipswich team that rode the crest of a wave after Promotion. These things can happen - credit to him though. He’s done really well.

Warnock did well with limited resources but he’s signed some crap as well. Morsy most certainly benefits from having quality players around him, allowing him to do the ugly stuff in the middle of the pitch.

It’s not something he ever really had under Warnock and perhaps why we never truly seen the best of him in a Boro shirt.

I remember thinking it was strange that we allowed him to leave at the time. I liked him, tough tackling, no nonsense midfielder that added some bite into a pretty weak overall team.

However, i also remember that we got good money for him and was also thinking that we probably were never going to turn down an offer like that?

Anyway, pleased for him. Seems to have found himself a great fit at Ipswich. Sometimes it just happens with certain players and clubs.

Done very well for Ipswich so good luck to him. Never struck me as a top championship or premiership player. Be interesting to see how he and luongo get on in the prem or if Ipswich eventually turn to other players

He's sort of fortunate...
A tough tackling central DM is a very specialist position...
And you'll get away with that far more in L1 and the champ ..
Wish him well.. but he's likely to be booking machine in the Prem

This again!

Look at his stats while he was here, I think he won something like 5 out of 60 attempted tackles. The only reason he had to foul is he was painfully slow and kept getting overran.

I was glad when he left.

A massive part is that players take time to adapt and settle into a system. He was not great with us, but had previously shown the skills needed.

Need to be patient with players.

another player that the great unwashed thought wasnt good enough for us, who went on to bigger and better things.

He was ok for us, I think he only played in the behind closed doors season? Difficult to form a proper opinion only seeing him play on TV imho.

There have been a few spells under both Carrick and Wilder when I have thought we could have done with a Morsy type.
