Sam Smith's shutting pubs

2 very popular venues in Newcastle also "closed indefinitely" - the Town Wall and Wylam Brewery. If places like that keep cant manage to keep afloat, then you can only fear that many many others all across the NE region, probably much smaller venues, are going to suffer the same fate, particularly when new restrictions are brought in (working on the assumption that pubs, bars and restaurants are going to be closed from Monday - in fact that might be academic anyway, if these popular venues close before they are brought in, what chance do others have)

Wonder if the Master Cooper in Acklam will survive? Frequented it a fair bit as it was just over the road, quite a few times when we lived there.

And it continues.
People genuinely have no idea how many are going to be closed permanently.

might also be because the hospitality industry is on it's ar5e as a result of a bit of a bug going around

True but if you charge £3+ for dishwater. Provide no music or sports and most no food you are playing to a thin market. Sammy Smiths were notorious for cheap beer. Now they dont sell cheap beer its no surprise they are struggling

Samual Smiths beer is an acquired taste.
I personally hate the stuff but I am really saddened by the apclosure of The Anchor in Guisborough.
Its a little out if the way for a pub crawl but I thought it was well used by locals.
Obviously though, not enough.

hopefully it is only being mothballed, and can reopen when the world regains its sanity, maybe next year.

However, if it is to close permanently, I suggest a nice restaurant could take over the building.

where is all this going to end ?.

Might have something to do with them charging £3 a pint for dish water.

Lobster is one of the best pints in Redcar Coops. Pity its such a boring pub.

When the owner put over £1 on every drink when the reopened it was always going to cause trade to drop. I know a few who used The Lobster and The Cobble who dont drink there because of this.

I dont mind the lobster but i only drink bottled flavoured organic beer if i went in and its not cheap. I know a whole group who practically lived in the coble and sacked it off once the price increase came in
