Season card renewal deadline 3 pm today

Please can we stop this sheer nonsense of only losing 2k SC holders.

We have 22k.
We now have 17k.
The club has failed to convince 5k SC holders to renew who had the opportunity at EB prices.

22.7% of SC holders have chosen not to renew.
I bet none of them will be in GRFZ, so in revenue terms the fall off will be even greater. The 5% price increase will offset very little of that loss.
Crackers to have let people walk away disgruntled.

Just comparing like for like.

I’d be interested to find out the renewal figure for the season before last.

Can only find the EB renewal figure for 21/22 season, which was 16,500.

I renewed on the last day, the club told me I could keep my hard copy of my season ticket and also keep it it is lost or broken and not be switched to digital. If that was communicated to me on day one, x5 renewals would have happened on day one.

I very nearly packed it in this season.

the lack of a half price season ticket, the digital ticketing communications 4 days before the start of the season, the lying about the fans forum being consulted on digital tickets and the initial mid March renewal deadline .

The PR and communications over a significant period of time have been dreadful. Own goal after own goal.
So you were going to pack it in because of admin issues, nothing to do with the football side? Understand withdrawing your custom from a shop for those reasons but not from the team you support.

I would imagine there’s a decent turnover of ST holders every season though.

You’re not going to have the same 15-20k renewing year after year after year.

People’s circumstances change… moving away for work, greater family commitments / kids coming along, change of finances, decide they’re missing too many matches due to sky tv changes, or just getting too old to go etc etc

And that’s on top of the obvious factor of the football just not being as good.

Like everyone else, I'm far from happy with our season card prices. But as big a scandal is that new SC holders are denied the same 'early bird' prices as the rest of us - especially as they're also prepared to put their money forward four months in advance the new season starting.
Maybe the club should adopt the marketing tactics used by the likes of Virgin and Sky and offer cheaper deals to new customers only. How would that go down?

I have to wonder why 3k fans chose to buy STs after the end of EB last season.

Yes the football has been good, but it did decline from the end of EB to the end of the season.

The summer's transfers weren't that inspiring.

It's possible a few has been holding out as a matter of principle since 2020, refusing to go until that waste of space Akpom was sold, but I'd be amazed if there were 3k of them.

Financially it didn't make sense to me to buy after the EB deadline, but 3k still chose to do so, and they'll have had their reasons. We don't need to understand their reasoning to knowing that a number, 1-2k will do so again this year.

So, we're 2k down on the same time last year. We will be more than 2k down come kickoff, but it will be significantly less than 5k.

The vast majority of those 3k would be new ST holders who maybe got the bug during the playoffs and thought we were going to be up challenging again this season. We won't attract those 3k new fans this season.

I think @indeedido is right. It's pointless comparing the EB renewals. We should be looking at our retention. And we've lost 22% of fans. I would guess last season the 18k EBs was higher than the current ST number so we would have retained/increased our ST numbers in the EB window.

Out of those 4k that haven't renewed to date. What is the chances of any of them renewing at the more expensive price?

We where touch and go due to work commitments. If we hadnt got early bird theres no way we would have gone back and renewed later.

Both playoff matches were disappointing though, and during EB we still had a plausible chance of automatic promotion, never mind the play offs.

Every year a chunk of STs are sold outside the EB window. We don't need to understand their reasons to know It will happen, but no one expects it to be another 3k on top of what's sold already.

I was away most of weekend and kept missing stuff but I think we can feel relieved in general that crowds may get to similar levels next term.

Why don't you pitch the opposite strategy to Virgin and Sky?
I’ve renewed, made the decision to purchase. I considered not renewing but decided to in the end. Lots of things came into consideration but I did it. I’m not particularly interested in pitching anything to Virgin or Sky, they have their approach to selling their product as do MFC. I was just pointing out the differences in marketing strategies used by some companies and asking how that one would go down with supporters, not very well I guess, but who knows?
