Good luck doing it in this window when the clubs you'll be buying from know you've just got £10m and you have around a week to spend it.

Azaz was probably signed as his replacement. No way we sign him from Villa, go through all those discussions while they recall him and negotiate a fee with us and we have their scouts at our games and we don't know who they're looking at and are pursuing.

I don't think balancing the books is particularly important just now. I don't think we budgeted on this bid coming in at this time, and wouldn't have spent on Azaz if we were that desperate.
Yet as long as we're in this division, selling a player a year seems likely. This may put us ahead of the game for Summer. I don't know how much Rogers cost, but 3-400% profit on a player who sigend 6 months ago, and was written off as not good enough 3 months ago, doesn't feel like bad business.
I don't really think we'll go up this season, so I'm not necessarily in a rush to spend any incoming this window; only if the player/value is there.
On the whole, I'd rather hang on too, but we've learned that no one wins when they hang on to a player who wants to go; from what I've heard, he is interested in going to the PL and being closer to home.

I keep hearing the "I think we signed him as a replacement for Azaz" when surely if that was the case they'd have verbalised that at the time and used it as leverage on the deal and we'd have had a deal agreed at the time rather than buying Azaz and they're just like "by the way we'll be bidding for Morgan Rogers in a few weeks" and when the time comes we keep rejecting their bids. It doesn't add up.

Maybe that's the risk we are willing to take or maybe it is a risk Rogers is willing to take.

Latest reputable reports suggest Villa haven't come back with a third bid and they are currently some way off what we believe his value is.
I hope this is true and he stays because he has the potential to be an exceptional player and I'd like to see some of that in a Boro shirt.
