Musically Clash and also longevity , Pistols iconic, NMTB LP game changing, Raw, powerful and demanding to be heard.... Live Clash all day although the Pistols Brixton comeback concert is awesome , Jones guitar wall of sound, Cooks steady pounding, Lydons drones , Strummers delivery, Jones/Strummers jerky pop tunes
Whereas talking about musicians and sound quality, there is no way to compare Sex Pistols and The Clash. The Pistols were not the best at playing instruments: a drummer that could only play one beat, a guitar player that only knew 3 chords but what a sound they made .....
Compared to Sex Pistols, the Clash had pretty decent musicians: Topper is by far one of the greatest drummers in punk rock, Mick Jones has proven himself as a good guitar player and Paul Simonon was not an amazing bass player, but tracked some great bass lines on ‘Guns of Brixton’ and ‘London Calling’, the band’s greatest hits.
Winner - Sex Pistols ... despite making only 1 LP and maybe 2 years existance what they packed into that time was incredible...
