Should we make a complaint to EFL regarding Sunderland chants?

Awful bunch of fans, but hardly the only club with them. Football fans in general can be pretty disgraceful.
No but this is specific event an actual true incident yet they are singing about that was thrown out and the doctors from Newcastle and sunlun we struck off.

It’s just sick

Please don’t even attempt to justify this vile filth as banter.

I’m not saying it’s banter. It’s shocking from the Mackems. It reflects really badly on them in my opinion. Total lack of class. Even more so for the reason you mention.

It’s breaking the law it’s a hate crime as I say chant the word see how far you get.

It needs stamping out.

If we are ann chanted the N word en masse do you really think nothing would happen
False equivalence.
If Chelsea had have decided to make a complaint
If we are going to report Sunderland we should first report our own first
But as bad as that is it’s not relating to an actual event like hillsborough like Munich that’s the difference.
Well it does relate to a specific "event" though doesn't it? It is not however (as I understand it) a "hate crime" it does not target people of a different skin colour or sexuality nor even religious beliefs. It is essentially a false accusation.

I found it more embarrassing when our fans sang (and to be fair only relatively briefly) the "rent boy song", the Sunlun fans just confirm our opinion of them.

Putting it plainly it should be up to Sunderland to do something about it. They will have a record of everyone in attendance. But they won't, just like we could have for example closed the South Stand after the homophobic chanting during the Chelsea game. I just don't like it being up to us to make the FA do something.

To be fair, as you've said, it was only sung relatively briefly. I feel it would be unfair on our club to be punished due to a few idiots letting the side down.

With Sunderland, we've had to endure the child abuse chants for decades now, and those songs are sung before, during and after the game. It's not just a minority either.

It's about time something was done about it. If the club recieved a hefty fine it might just deter some of the idiots from doing it again.

The reaction on their forum is unbelievable. It seems like they've done it for that long that they now see no wrong in what they are doing. Chanting it as a team of Under 9 girls walked past them was disgusting, cowards the lot of them.

Ban them and then tell the EFL why that’s the only way it stops.

It worked for racism

It’s a vile chant that has no place in modern football, but it isn’t a hate crime because that requires an aggravating factor that it is directed against/ intended to stir up hatred of a protected category, and paedophile isn’t a protected category.
