Walter told ChronicleLive at the time the battle had "broken a proud man" adding: "I was born here. It is like a tree with roots.Just five days ago, and just a few miles away:
Plankey Mill farmer evicted from life-long home after battle with landowners
Walter Renwick, 68, was born at Plankey Mill but has had to leave the property after a dispute with the landownerswww.chroniclelive.co.uk
that farmer was 4 generations in, evicted from his family home from where he was born at 68yo..It’s awful it really is but what will be the maximum charge/sentence they’ll get
Criminal damage is what a fine ??maybe 6 months suspended tops

a tree is a tree at the end of the day.. this guy has had his life destroyed. poor guy
haven't read into the whole thing tbh.. sounds like the 16yo is his grandson and the dispute was with his neighbours (the national trust) who put then pressure of the freeholder (jesuits) to have him evicted.. something to do with the campsite? maybe just having a campsite there next to national trust property? - I bet the national trust can be right weirdos. Was he evicted for no reason? Why were complaints about him made?
get it all bronzed and put back upMaybe we should plant 100 replacement ones and fight back.
The spirit of Hadrian's sycamore leaves on, and use it as a rallying cry for more Trees.
speculationI didn't see anything in the article about the farmers eviction linking it with the felling of the tree. Have I missed something?
I’d like to see thatget it all bronzed and put back up
no more than 'the sycamore stump' that we have nowI’d like to see that
But That was mentioned this morning on tv then does it become a monument to to the vandalised act.

That’s what I thought as there’s no way a 16 yr old could cut something that size and do it so precisely in such a timescaleView attachment 64405
Far too clean a cut for a 16 YO - that is someone who knows and has practised tree-felling.
