Souness

There was actually a post regarding Steve & Cockney Rebel, only last week. Duran Duran actually did a very good cover of come up & see me, which was actually a much heavier sound with Andy Taylor playing a very good lead guitar on it!

Trailblazer in the early 70s. Unique voice and brill songwriter ... was still touring until his recent cancer illness . One of my go to vinyl records below
Really sad to hear of his passing.
Many years ago, a local radio show always opened with this song, with its distinctive intro:

I am confused about the 2 previous post but Souness was the best Boro player I've seen. He was clever enough to curb his 'enthusiasm' to meet the modern game. In fact I don't see him as a dirty or physical player except when circumstances needed it.

That includes TLF.

Willie Maddren may qualify but you tend to give less credit to defenders though Dickie Rooks will always have a fond memory for me.

I saw Souness in his prime with us. He was an awesome player. It was clear that he was going on to bigger and better things.
can remember his home debut and even as a raw youngster he was a class above what we had before in midfield , George Smith and Eric Mc Mordie was very good but Nobby had had his day but when Souness arrived the tempo of the team increased

Must not forget the benefit Souness gained from playing alongside Murdoch. I think this really brought him on as Murdoch was one of the best passers of a ball there has ever been. Vital to us getting promotion and never cost a penny when big Jack signed him.
