South Stand Banners Today

The Leadbitter song was sung for Forss.

Agree regarding The 'Carrick says' song. It just reminds me of Wilder too much whenever I hear it, and that's not a good thing.

He deserves something better/more creative than the leadbitter song reincarnated imo

We also sang Sunderland fook it up everywhere they go (they certainly didnt today, we walked right into that one singing that)

I hate that chant (which references paddy,Crooks & Jones), i refuse to join in. Its from the Wilder era and should have stayed there. Crooks doesn't score belters and Jones isn't currently running down the right hand side!

The Leadbitter song who have we replaced him with? I noticed that was chanted today ... i don't like this we did it with Boateng and Friend and i'm sure they'll be one or two other examples and why do we feel the need to rezerect old songs ... make some new ones!

No one else has been here, there and every @##%'in where since Wilkinson
To be fair at away games the main chant is about Juninho and his magic hat for some reason ?

I expected to see their black cat/lion flag out and something like 'Cant help four-nil in love with you'

Worst atmosphere of any Sunderland game but that isn't just down to RF, there are 30k people there all capable of adding to the atmosphere i think its wrong to blame them for when the grounds quiet.

RF have their own ideas and football/politics comes into it and a stadium of 30k+ is a good way for them to portray their thoughts.

It seems to me that this season most of the South Stand don’t join in with Red Faction. When RF do go quiet there isn’t anything from anyone else. That has happened quite a few times this season.

I do wish we could use some more imagination, ‘we hate Sunderland’ was getting a bit embarrassing to be honest. So many absurd things about that club and their insane fans and that’s all we could come up with
The Seagull.. ‘incident’ I laughed when I heared the seagulls screaming in the background on bbc tees after the match,

Watching on telly from Australia I thought the ground was really quiet which surprised me especially after the Chelsea home game which was electric.
I expected a similar effort, creative songs, scarves, funny banners about 0-4 or the NUFC FA Cup game, their bar or even Mogga. They’re a hilarious club, it was there for the taking and I was looking forward to it.
Instead zilch, crickets.
We needed the win and a boost of support would have spurred the lads on. Adding some fun was the order of the day.
It just seemed really odd to me. I know I’m an armchair supporter from miles away these days but a great opportunity missed I thought.
They had ‘shag your children chants’ ‘small town in Yorkshire’ etc showing their usual creative genius, but unfortunately we were worse…☹️

RF had self indulgent nonsense banners, did their tuneless ultra routines to themselves and nowt else.
When the team scored, there was a lot of noise all around the ground and it was really getting going.
Red Faction don't get the crowd going, the team does.

Speaks volumes of our support then doesnt it. 'Only sing when we're winning'?

Exactly.

**** Sky Sports even though they’ve contributed massively to the domestic game improving and moving away from the awful spectacle of the 80’s. **** Sky Sports even though the coverage has been good for sports such as boxing, rugby Union and league, darts and others.
It's no improvement. I would love to see them go out of business. Try reading John Nicholson's "Can We Have Our Football Back?".

Rather than focus on Red Faction why not look at the rest of the stadium? The North stand in particular. The atmosphere was as dead as a dodo from that end.

Agree with this. At times the ground seemed to go really quiet.

Also, I don’t get the **** Sky Sports chant. Sky have been brilliant for sport in general in Britain.
Ye Brighton away lunch time kick off has been great for fans

Sky didn't stop any of that.
Them getting involved has changed the English domestic game. There can be no doubt about it. New stadiums, diverse crowds and less violence has all been possible because of money and a higher profile. Football has improved as more quality players and coaches arrived from Europe. None of that would be possible without the financial resources clubs now have.

They didn't stop any of the things you listed.

The Taylor report did.

Football quality has improved for the top clubs whilst diminishing the competitive nature of English football.

The standard at Championship level and below has dropped in comparison.

That’s a fair point but you cannot say Sky haven’t had a positive impact. There is no way English football would be the beast it is without the financial support from TV.

When you talk of English football being a beast are you referring to the few clubs competing in Europe?

If so, no arguments there.
