Just learned that Professor Hannah Fry did a programme in 2018 where she simulated a deadly virus arriving in the UK and chose Haslemere in Surrey as the place where the outbreak started. Fast forward 2 years and it's where the first person was believed to have caught COVID from within the UK.

This is a place with a population of 10,000 people, so hardly like she picked Manchester or London.

Another one just occurred this second.

Just went onto the BA website to book flights to New York in November, and as I dont have a meeting for a couple of hours decided to switch the radio on. "Alexa play BBC 6 Music", and the song that was literally just starting was Empire State of Mind (the one that goes "In New York, concrete dreams where dreams are made of") by Alicia Keys and Jay Z.

What are the chances of that ?

*FACT*
'Empire State of Mind' is played on a radio station, somewhere, at all times.
In all catchment/broadcast areas.

It is the musical equivalent of 'Friends'.
 
This happened to us on Saturday
The wife always just backs our birthdays in the national so horses 2 and 15. She also had a go on a sweep and guess what two numbers she pulled out? Spooky......

I've honestly never heard it on 6music before, so less likely than if I'd have put HeartFM on or something.

Interesting that you mention Friends, a TV show about people living in NEW YORK !!, how far does this thing go ???
 
I heard a story on a podcast a few weeks ago that blew my mind.
I'm paraphrasing now since this is how I remember the conversation going, but it is still factually accurate.

A guy was talking time off work and told his colleagues that he was contactable if he was needed.
This guy is casually strolling down the road in the village where he had decided to go and spend the day. (This is in the UK about 20 years ago).
Walking past a phone box, the phone starts to ring and he answers it. "Hi 'John' sorry to bother you but we need some info from you about this work problem".
The guy (John), was flabbergasted and asked how his colleagues got this number. To which the person in his office explained that they didn't have his number on file so they went to his company information file and dialed what they thought was his number. However, they had incorrectly dialed his employee number.

This number just so happened to be the same as the phone number for the telephone box, that they rang at exactly the same time that John was walking past it!

True story.

I hope it is true. Hard to verify 20 yrs later I suppose.

Absolutely. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
At the time of hearing this story, it was convincing and was told within the realm of it being 'true' and one of the world's most extraordinary coincidences.

Another coincidence. I've never watched Friends and I don't think I've heard that track either.
