Some of his passing is superb, played a brilliant ball out to McGree in the 2nd half.
I don’t remember Randolph or Given getting any criticism while they were here because they were both consistently excellent while still making the very rare mistake.I always tend to think keepers get a bit of unfair criticism from our fans, Steffen included.
Any keeper will make mistakes when playing out from the back, even the best in the world do, its a risk when we play the way we do, but the rewards justify it. Same for done of the outfield players too, but the more practiced we are the less it should happen.
Overall I think he's been an excellent signing so far and I don't think there's many keepers who I'd say were clearly better at this level.
I think Randolph did to begin with. Funnily enough the criticism stopped when Pulis took over and Randolph was clearly told to clear his lines rather than try and play out a bit. Funny that.I don’t remember Randolph or Given getting any criticism while they were here because they were both consistently excellent while still making the very rare mistake.
It was happening nearly every game with Steffen not so long ago.
Disagree, in part at least and maybe these are the exception that prove the rule.I don’t remember Randolph or Given getting any criticism while they were here because they were both consistently excellent while still making the very rare mistake.

Which is why I didn’t mention Schwarzer. The two I did mention I don’t remember ever had the fans on their back. Randolph was a massive upgrade on Guzan and Dimi who I also don’t remember getting much criticism.Disagree, in part at least and maybe these are the exception that prove the rule.
Schwarzer, our best ever keeper arguably and one of our best value signings was criticised regularly I recall.
he was hardly pressurised today so while I'm in the "agree" camp with the fact he's improved the problem is that the competition has not been at a level to really test him.
Exactly he’s not going back to city that’s for definite. The question is would city have him in there team No is the answer so they are looking for a payday on him is it going to be us.
Good find Cress. Hope we can sign himConfirms he’s not going back:

Zack Steffen opens up about missing the World Cup and returning to the U.S. men’s team this month
One of the biggest surprises of the USA’s 2022 World Cup roster was when Downingtown’s Zack Steffen wasn’t named to it, but the goalkeeper has some thoughts as to how it all happened.www.inquirer.com
Fair play to him, if anything grips my **** about the modern game, it's players sat on their butt earning 3m+ for playing 6 League Cup games in 4 years. Get out there, get playing, finish your career with matchday memories to look back on not training ground ones.Confirms he’s not going back:

Interesting read. Though the big question from the article - should it be 'Middlesbrough is' or 'Middlesbrough are'?Confirms he’s not going back:
