Steffens double save

He seemed to play it simple last night, wasn't trying to force the tight pass or play the 50 yard worldie.

Hope he stays next season, but will need to take a pay cut......and wonder how much City will want for him?

I think Steffen’s all round game has got better which is probably down to game time and working with the coaches.

One area I think has hugely improved is decision making. He now mixes up his distribution. Going longer (or pinging a pass out wide) when the short option is higher risk and potentially not on.

Even when coming out to catch / punch he has got a lot better. He seems much more commanding and assured in those situations.

There has been a marked difference in Steffens performances these last few games. He is noticeably dealing with crosses where previously he looked shaky, he is looking more confident and he has undoubtedly made some vital saves, I think a pat on the back may need to go to Alan Fettis too for this.

Eaxh player has there time to shine and that includes the keeper, Steffen has nd continues to make spme big save for us in all games, he just doesnt get the credit because we are fans are not used to a keeper so calm.

There was one moment yesterday which really struck me, I think it was Lenihan who fired the ball back at him and he let it bounce in front of him in that condition and controlled instantly, his technique and footballing ability is truely amirable for a GK.

Another one was where he had it at his feet and was closed down only for the ball to get caught at his feet, he quickly shifted it and played the ball with his left foot.

And then there was his double save 😍

He will as all players have his moments but he is a terrific footballer and could yet be the player that gets us promoted if it goes to pennas and he takes the sudden death penalty and chips it 🥵 would he dare?

Brilliant again tonight. Noticed Roberts gave him a warm embrace at full time.

He must be buzzing with the reception he’s getting from the crowd now, with his own song tonight.
Because Roberts knows steffen will be heading home end of season & roberts will get his long over due chance. If roberts got the same backing as steffen we would be all about him.

He had a solid game last night in awful conditions, I thought his handling and distribution were excellent and his superb double save was top class.
He does seem to be improving, but I think our style of drawing forwards in and exploiting the space is always going to end up with the odd howler.

He is honestly like having another outfield defender at times.

The amount of time he is the out ball for a player under pressure is unreal.
Yes, and occasionally that means like all players he’ll occasionally get caught out. That doesn’t make him a bad player it’s just a risk we take with that style, but the risk v reward is worth it.
