Steve Gibson Q and A Latest

I reckon I could give you the answers for those you’d likely receive off him.

I doubt the club will know of those players, I don’t know of those players and the club has a very small scouting team (Scott’s words in his last interview)

We sold Akpom because his contract was up in 12 months and if we didn’t we’d have lost him on a free, as he didn’t want to sign a new contract. That’s just good business sense. Same with Tav. Spence represented good value for a player that 1) didn’t want to be here and 2) wasn’t in our plans.

Didn’t spend the Rogers money because they didn’t think there was anyone available at a fair price. Had targets, but clubs knew we had cash after the sale and asked for unrealistic fees. So we walked away.

We loaned Ayling because Smith got injured. No other reason. That’s not going against the model, that’s covering injury.

It’s better for our younger keepers to play regularly rather than sit as third choice. Jones will only play in a worst case scenario. Better an ageing journeyman sitting as third choice rather than a promising youngster.

Absolutely no chance they’ll rethink season ticket prices. They’d have to refund those who’ve already paid.

Haven’t thrown the towel in, Rogers wanted to go. Crooks wanted to go. Can’t blame either of them. Better not to keep players around who want to be elsewhere.
The club and its small scouting team SHOULD know of those players , they are THE MODEL . If my job was football recruitment I would know of most players in most leagues, what else can they do for the other 9 months ?

We sold Tav Akpom and Spence for good money , £30m + , so where Is it. Add Payero and Bola fees to that which went toward incoming signings.

We needed cover for Smith , was there not a younger , fitter player out there ?

One of our loaned out keepers should have been 2nd choice , Roberts should have had his contract extended and been that person , we didn't need to bring in two journeymen . Our u21 should have been 3rd choice.

They should re think season ticket prices , and refund those who have already paid .

Rogers and Crooks wanted to go and brought £10m in , to not get 1 replacement in was ridiculous. Un professional and un prepared.

I think we run at a loss of about £10m a year. We signed Rogers with some of the Akpom money and just sold him for an 800% profit.

Clearly not. We needed cover for Bangura and got in Thomas.

We don’t overpay for players. I’m fine with that.

You have your blinkers on , I don't want us to overpay for players , I want us to find the gems .
You can't tell me there's was not a better option than a 32 year old ?
Anyway , stop replying , you are that annoying know it all who can't shut up , we all have opinions .
Gibson wouldn't let Bulkhaul be run like this.

Morgan Rogers signed for £1.5m, sold for £10m

RVDB - bought for £1m, now worth 10x that
I reccomended Rogers to Kieran Scott 31/1/22 so I am happy with his signing . Reccomended to Gary Gill when he was at Lincoln .And Matt Clarke , and Cole Palmer a bit later 8/8/22 . If only eh .

You should just cut right to it and offer Gibson out for a straightener.

Is the cold and aggressive tone set by the club toward its fans intentional or is it purely down to down to a lack of understanding.. both of the fanbase, the current climate and rudimentary sales and marketing?
I think after the whole Derby County situation it’s obvious that Gibson has the final say over what and how stuff is communicated.

I can picture him stood over some poor young marketing graduate telling him which sentences to take out of his draft and then telling them what to type word for word.

TBH it'll be a waste of time , You will want to keep your access to the press conferences etc etc as you wouldn't want to bite the hand that feeds you .
The questions will be vetted and anything they don't feel comfortable with will be vetoed. It will be the usual Yes Mr Gibson A*** licking exercise.
Nope it will be transparent.

Hi Steve, I think I recall some time ago the club promising superfast wifi would be available at the ground. Can you confirm whether or not I have dreamt that, as I have a tendency to misremember at my age.
I do now know the answer to this because wifi hotspots were installed around the stadium that can used for food kiosks etc. The bill was in excess of £100k for that alone. I was told last week the latest estimate is the price of a decent Championship midfielder.

100k for wifi thats crazy

This all feels a bit Oliver Twist - like begging for an interview, but ending up with a curt “send me some questions from the plebs and I’ll see what i can do” 😳 what happened to the days when he went live on the radio to take questions
Nope - the club approached me to do this some time ago.
I was unsure, actually initially I said no.
Then I was asked again and this time I asked if I could do Q and A in a different way.
I said no because I thought I don't need the abuse I will get from fans.

I don’t eat food at the match, but isn’t there burgers, hotdogs, chips, parmo in a bun, pies?

What other dining options do you want when watching a footy match?? A nice seafood linguine?
Actually they do canvas opinion from.time to time and respond. Eg last season fans got in touch and asked for curry and chips and they put it back on the menu with some success.

Why did you say no?

Ah ****, just seen. Ignore me I’m half asleep.
