Steve Gibson Q and A Latest

Personally i think we should keep matters down to a couple of subjects
The broader brush the discussion the less likely we are to get meaningful answers

Ticketing, affoardibilty being no1
Attracting new fans with current policies, walkups why treat with such disdain etc. Price comparisons with other champ clubs

I would discount any questions on recruitment unless talking in general terms about budgets. Hes not going to get into the nitty grity thats scotts domain.

Topics for me are
Ticketing - price of season tickets for new applicants and the walk up prices.
The retail department - This is a area I feel needs improving as they is months throughout the season they is no stock of kits for fans to buy. This year wasn't an away kit until after the season started. Also the quality of the kits is very shoddy and sponsor often peels of after a few washes.
Quality and range of the food and drink served in the concourse.
Sponsorship are we looking at getting a none betting company shirt sponsor?
The women's team integration has been a success this year if they get promoted will the side go fully professional?
The fan zone can they be a canopy on it as it's abit rubbish when it rains.
eco riverside we did have a windmill few years back that generated electric for the stadium how come that got taken down and is they any plans like this to make the Riverside generate own electric once more.

got to be along these lines. he needs hammering with a few subjects, not loads. likelihood is he is not really bothered if people don't like the beer and the food is crap.

subjects should be ticket prices, medium to long term club strategy and probably something around the retail and PR.

Season Expectations are set on how much you pay for a season ticket as well I think anyway. As we are paying among the highest in this division us fans feel we should be in the top 6 and go to games expecting wins. If we were paying half the price like Preston do we would go to games with less expectation and more happy as its not costing as much to attend games. But as it's costing so much to attend games fans feel like they aren't getting the product they paid for.

I think he really does care you know. He is still absolutely driven - that is the message I get loud and clear - hopefully a Q and A will get that across to everyone.

It might be worth splitting the Q&A into different sections (plans for the club, ticketing, retail, matchday etc) so its not just dominated by one subject @fmttmadmin
Yes, that would make sense and help it flow. I think it would be good to have a decent start and end point as well.
We are talking with some experienced media people this afternoon to get their advice.

The turbine became a long running court battle.

I had been told in the past that the airport objected because of the use of the stadium and the river for aircraft flightpath. Am not sure whether this is a radar issue or visibility or what.

I'd agree with the vast majority regarding the quality of the questions being asked. Is the quality of the food at the concourse really a question we want to ask Gibson when we could be questioning his exit strategy from the club? Not a dig at you specifically @Boro4life but i feel we need to be efficient with what we're asking.

It certainly is. That was for a handful of hotspots around the outside of the stadium. Can you imagine the bill for the stadium. That is why very few football grounds have wifi retrofitted.
screw wifi, I would be happy with a decent 4G or 5G signal

Wifi/5G availability needs to be improved. Especially for the younger generation. It'll come at a cost, but it'll also improve the experience for many. I don't think installing it would be too hard of a task given it's a big steel/breeze block shell.

Good point regarding the younger generation. Had two lads sat next to me at Sunderland and they were constantly snapchatting/instagramming/Xing throughout the game.

Given the clubs change in strategy to a more self sustainable model regarding transfers in and out of the club, what is the justification for THE MOST expensive season tickets in the championship, seeing that season ticket revenue is not being used as the "transfer war chest" previously given as justification???

SG used to do a regular Q&A with fans on BBC radioTees, and interviews with Ali - why did these kind of things stop ? The relationship between club hierarchy and supporters seems very low. PR is bordering on contempt/condescending at times and the timing and wording of the early bird deadline underlined this. It was nothing short of disastrous and only served to annoy fans even more. Surely the club can find someone to improve PR and keep fans informed in a more considerate and proactive way on a regular basis, rather than the curt yearly “its time you lot renewed” announcement we got a few days ago .
I’ve no doubt that there are significantly better personnel out there, but MFC seems to operate a closed shop for its staffing.

Anyone remember the new ticketing manager (or similar) that came in to work with Joanne swinnerton? Tried to implement new things and ended up leaving after no time.

Most decision making staff are local and have been at the club for years - present for bad decision after bad decision. We just seem very small time, stuck in our ways, nothing innovative or fresh in our ideas.

Few questions:

I'd like to know why in an ever expanding global market with an estimated 3bn viewers on the PL we have failed to attract any fans that don't have a Teesside postcode. Is the tactic of only selling merchandise from a single retail outlet, sky high delivery fees if ordering online, inaccessible radio/TV feeds, expensive walk-up tickets, a priority scheme that means only the same fans get access to tickets even if there is a local away game, season ticket holders being able to bring an extra person to a home FA Cup tie and any of the other decisions he's made to make it difficult to be an occasional/distant/foreign fan a deliberate one to deter those fans?

Does he understand the concept of volume of sales?

Would you rather buy stock of 500 kits and sell them all for £50 by September or buy 2000 kits and sell 1,000 of them at £50 and 1,000 of them at £25?

What size kit would you recommend for someone that usually wears a Large and why does the answer have so many X's in it?

Why do 12 year olds have to buy adult kits? Is it so they get a gambling company sponsor because it's part of our contract that we sell a certain volume and you can't do that if they are in kids kits?

Why do you charge so much for kids kits when there is no VAT?

The cost is really high. I mean really high. Look back at an answer I have made earlier in the thread, We are talking the same as signing a player to retrofit the stadium.
