Around about 1970 me and my mates were having our pre-match kick about in the old cemmy (Ayresome gardens). When all of a sudden we were surrounded by hundreds of football fans with funny accents, some of who started having a kick around with us and let us know they were Sunderland fans.Off home we went got our scarves and took up our places in the old boys end,it was best atmosphere I had been witness in my so far short life a riot of colour and noise. That is why when the fixtures come out the first one I will look for will be Sunderland not a derby for them but some of the best matches I've ever seen.

I'd rather play Sunderland or Leeds than Bournemouth or Peterborough. Ideally in the PL but Championship is fine.
A lot of mackems are already talking of pushing for a playoff spot next season........so bring it on.
Championship is going to be even more brutal next season, so they could be in for a bit of a reality check.......

Alex Neil is no mug and he will cut his cloth to suit the league and offload part of that squad.
