Superbowl - How did you choose your NFL team?

Lived in Buffalo ,NY & have seen them play quite a few times ( as well as the Sabres ) Still live in NY State and they are the only NY team.
They Need to play the Super Bowl on Saturday night

My - Team - is / was the LA Rams.. it's all about the running game for me & Eric Dickerson was king, amongst legends..

Problem is as as Teams bar Green Bay are just franchises - I have ZERO affiliation to any.. just as I prefer Burger King, tho nothing beats a McD breakfast.. they aren't sports clubs, in a European sense, they are commercial vehicles.. very much a US system..

Chicago Bears, i started off watching Chicago Bulls in the NBA and then started watching other American sports so followed the Chicago franchises
Please accept my commiserations 😂

I've been to a few Bears games since I moved here and even as a neutral they've been painful viewing!

Same here. Would watch the highlights on channel 4 in the 80’s and stay up for the Superbowl. Still haven’t forgiven the Broncos for AFC championship defeats. Still check for the scores but rarely watch now.
I have a similar hatred of the Broncos and John Elway for the same reason 😂

Convoluted story for me:

Became a Browns fan in the 80s for the same reason lots of us did but lost interest in the sport when the Browns did a moonlight flit and became the Baltimore Ravens in 1992.

Moved to the US in 2016 and decided to pick up where I left off with the new Browns team. This coincided with Boro's one Premiership season and watching Boro lose every Saturday followed by the Browns losing every Sunday wasn't fun and I never really reconnected with the Browns.

A couple of American guys I worked with tried to get me to support their teams. One took me to Baltimore (ironically) to see his Ravens (I lived in DC so Baltimore was less than an hour away) and I loved it but still didn't feel the connection. Another promised to take me to Kansas to see his Chiefs team if I became a KC fan so I started watching them on TV too. I finished the 2016 season undecided.

For the 2017 season I did Fantasy Football for the first time and, much to everyone else's amusement in the draft, I picked a rookie RB called Kareem Hunt when lots of more established picks were still available. The season opener that year was KC away at Super Bowl champions New England (who most NFL fans hate) and a pre-Mahomes KC destroyed them with Hunt running riot.

From that game I knew I had my team and my mate kept his promise. We went to stay at his parents' house in Kansas (that his dad built!) in 2017 and I saw the Chiefs beat the Jags at Arrowhead in an amazing atmosphere.

I feel a bit uncomfortable saying I'm a Chiefs fan now as people assume I started when they won the Super Bowl but my timing was just very good! The sporting gods are paying me back for a lifetime of Boro misery as I also support the Washington Capitals and the Washington Nationals and they won the Stanley Cup and World Series after I moved to the US too.

For me it was the Raiders after watching my first Superbowl in 1983. Marcus Allen's run was immense. I hope the link works.
On the flip side, always rooted for the underdog so saw the Redskins getting trounced and started to follow them. Remember Marcus Allen and Jim Plunkett having outstanding games.

I don't understand how/why anyone is interested in NFL, the reporting of NFL, NBA and baseball by BBC is getting ridiculous

Started watching the games on sky & the Giants seemed to be on every week at 9pm, Super Bowl run in 2007 helped cement it.
