He WAS the DPP Director of Public Prosecutions. Which made him head of the CPS for England and Wales. There would be no absolute reason for one particular case to cross his desk.
Currently there is about 6000 people working in the CPS

One of my family is a middle ranking civil servant in the Home Office over 2 floors of their section there are about 200 people, and doesn’t have much of a clue what’s going elsewhere.
35,000 work in home across across 4 countries.
 
Could be wrong but when Labour last came to power the country was in a right mess. Not a big Blair fan but they did sort out the economy wasn’t economic growth something like 3% under Brown. Acheived largely by investing in public services.
 
There was actually a sea change in culture over the way historic sexual abuse were prosecuted after saville. Who was in charge of CPS at the time is entirely irrelevant. But blaming starmer is a little stupid. It's like blaming whoever was in charge of Britain at the time slavery was abolished for slavery.

Every school, football club, scouts organisation, broadcaster, religion. Every organisation, every single one when there were accusations of child abuse, did not take them seriously. Because that was what the culture was and that's what people did.

Typical police investigation "he said he didn't do it so there's nothing we can do."

Saville changed all that. In fact the culture swung the other way for a bit when every **** and bull story was believed. All that dolphin square business.

Big nobs at the top of the organisation just tend to swan around giving speeches and not doing much of importance. The CPS has been a **** poor operation regardless of who is in charge for years. If you want to hammer starmer for his time in charge of the CPS go and have a read of some of the reports by HMPCSI.

To be fair as long as he, and people like him, don't vote it's not the end of the world. I'd bet good money he "lent his vote" to Boris.

Wouldn't trust them not to tick the Tory box again when it comes to the crunch. Can't trust labour can you? Lesser of two evils etc......
