Team for today?

What have you seen from O'Brien to say he is one of the 2 best midfielders at the club.
His only good performance for us was at left back.
Lots of injuries and little much else as midfielder for us.
Or are we going back to his performances for Huddersfield (he hardly played at Forest either).

I just know him to be a good player. Watched him a lot at Huddersfield and he was exceptional. Barlaser and Howson have played the majority of games of late and we have been very inconsistent with them starting. O’Brien was signed to be a main man in midfield and was used at left back due to a poor start from Engel then sadly got injured. He’s had minutes off the bench recently and done just ok nothing special.


Today feels the game to really change it up now. It’s worth a go. We aren’t winning enough games with Howson and Barlaser.

In your opinion you mean ?
Howson is top draw end of - in my opinion but I believe tens of thousands of other fans who watch the games think that too, howson doesn’t get a whole stand singing his name for nothing - they see what I see…

That said, howson, as another poster just sensibly mentioned, isn’t the future so trying O’Brien with Hackney is a good idea as along as carrick knows O’Brien wants to be here permanently and carrick knows his wage demands are achievable - then give him his opportunity
 
I think our squad is pretty interchangeable with one or two exceptions.

I would expect Engel to start today unless Thomas has shown a lot in training. Giving Howson a rest, wouldn't neccesarily be a bad idea. B einteresting to see how McGree comes back. Hopefully fully firing.

Where have I said I don’t rate Howson? What a bizarre way to take my statement. I love Howson. He’s been a brilliant player for us. But Howson can’t go on forever. If he’s here next season it will surely be as a squad player.

As right now. I do Believe Hackney and O’Brien should be playing

O'Brien one of the best midfielders at the club? based on what?...
Based on what he did two years ago with Huddersfield. (he is not that player anymore)

He played ok at left back before his injury, but looked average in his cameo rolls as a midfield sub.

Would be harsh on both Barlaser and Howson, just to throw O'Brien into the team.

This would be my line up too assuming that Dieng and Josh aren’t fit enough - I’d have Forss up top though and put Greenwood on the right

Good team if the leaked one is correct. I think those are our current best 11 available players, it's just how settled in they are / fit etc.

Diego - as other posters are gently pointing out, O’Brien ought to be starting based on Huddersfield 2years ago
Come on fella,

He deserves a chance, if, like I said earlier, he’s keen to stay and we can afford him wages.
 
Greenwood worked his socks off up front against Sunderland. Hoping for the same today. Also hoping for a big game from Azaz to get him up and running in a Boro shirt.
 
We need a big performance today to get us back on track. 16 goals from 16 home games is not the form that gets you in the playoffs. We have had injuries but now need to push on. We need to shoot more when on the edge of the box rather than passing the buck to somebody else. It’s amazing how many goals are scored from shots being deflected in off defenders. (y)
 
Big performances needed from a few individuals today. Performances we may have taken for granted hence the disappointment over the last month or so

Some genuine options to change it
 
First real game without Morgan as well now that we know what we’ve missed and seen how moving players around didn’t work. So you’d expect us one to sit more and azaz to push up.
