Notable under performers in azaz barlasser and greenwood on bench doesn’t surprise we turned the tide without them

Nothing at all to do with a formation that doesn't ask the back six / seven what they can't ?

Nope ... Much easier to criticize individuals who haven't had chance with 3 / 5 at the back

Still no sign of Jones, even when some pace on the break might've relieved pressure. I can only imagine he's not really fit yet.

This formation doesn’t suit jones, it’s a massive decision for carrick to make on Saturday whether he changes formation, I don’t like the 3-5-2 at home because our fullbacks aren’t good enough to really dictate and that’s crucial when playing this formation at home.

I think carrick will go back to 4-2-3-1 but I think he will tell the boys not to mess around with it at the back to much

It will mean a slot potentially for jonesy and resting forss and I think paddy on the bench because he will need height of Clarke leaving Azaz or greenwood to come in for a defender 🤔

Eh? This formation perfectly suits Jones! His best form for the club was as a Right wing back under Wilder. He was MOTM against Chelsea playing as a RWB.

True about jones at RWB, I was just thinking, Carrick isn’t going to drop ayling (which he should because at home he can’t offer what we need from that position) therefore how do you get jones in the team.

Ayling has been excellent recently, Jones gives us an attacking option there if we need it though.👍

Ayling hasn’t been excellent since we changed formation at all, against brum yes he was good but I’d argue he wasn’t great in the other two, big improvement from the previous games mind but that wasn’t hard given he was awful for the most part.

We've seen that Carrick won't change a winning team unless he's forced to so I expect the same starting 11 on Saturday. Although we have won 3 games without being brilliant, none of the starters have been an obvious weak link so there's no obvious reason to drop any of them.

I think Carrick's reluctance to change a team cost us at the end of last season but we have one more match until a 2 week break and a chance for our injured players to recover more fully. The problem this season has been the opposite of last season: an inability to pick a consistent team.

I don't think Latte Lath suited his slightly deeper role and I get the impression that Carrick doesn't particularly rate Forss so I could see Azaz coming into replace Forss in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Blackburn will sit deep. I could see Jones coming on after 60 minutes if we're struggling to get through them and us reverting to 4-2-3-1.

I think he does rate Forss, but would probably prefer more of a creative type in that position. In a perfect world. But he's started plenty of games under Carrick.

He'd be a brave to drop someone from a winning side who's scored 2 in 3 and is our best finisher.

That's the conundrum with Forss. He's not particularly creative, won't really dribble past players or pay killer passes. But he works hard, scores goals and usually takes his chances.

For me, particularly given some of our finishing this season, I want our best finisher on the pitch. I'm sure MC probably wrestles with that dilemma quite a bit!
