The 92 challenge..

Just read a good little story of a guy who done it with his dad as a lad in the late 80s…
not over one season or indeed watching a match at every ground but it’s still a snap shot of the last days before Sky football and ground redevelopments…

Has anyone here done anything similar? I’ve been to a total of 20 league grounds, pretty poor tbh… 2 different Wembleys and 3 Scottish grounds and Ajax’s ground to watch take that 😞

I wish I’d done more as a young lad but mates weren’t into football…

There are only a handful in the top three tiers I’ve not been to to watch Boro (my rule is I have to watch Boro there). Not done all 92 though obviously.

I was at 40-odd but then I lost Southend, Brentford and AFC Wimbledon in close succession, which set me back a bit. Currently living abroad for a while so I've no chance to improve on my numbers at the moment. Promotion for Bromley would add one more to my list, though!

The article about doing the 92 in the 80s is on the bbc news website. Its an excellent article and makes me think I might do something similar when I retire in a year or so's time. Frightening to think how many of the old grounds are now gone, it was odd to see Millmoor still standing at Rotherham on Monday. I first started travelling to watch Boro in the early 80s and the photos in the article sum up that era superbly.

At one point i'd done about 65/70 of the 92, by watching Boro (my rules) i haven't calculated it for a while but im guessing it'll be in the 50's now with new teams/grounds all over

My Dad and I have the same rule. It can be Boro under 10's, but it has to be a Boro representative team.

I'm up to 62 as of last count, but that's not only the 92 grounds but foreign, non-league, Wembley etc

If I take away the grounds that have disappeared mine drops from 21 to 19 or 18 if I include spurs…

(It’s jumped to 21 from op as I forgot Charlton at West Ham, with a visit to the valley on the way as we were told they were playing back there, but the only activity was a digger levelling their new pitch…)

I’ll do a count when I get to work, I’m interested now. I’d guess it’s similar.

I've been to 88 of the current 91 but, in one sense, it's harder now than it was in the 80s because, with new grounds and new clubs the target is constantly changing - I've been to well over 120 League grounds. I've not counted how many grounds I've been to with Boro but the last time I did it was 65+.

I'm actively trying to do the 92 at the moment, with eight new ones done this season - including Wrexham. I'm on 83 of the current 92 and hoping Notts County get back up to make it 84 as I went there for our opening game when Alan Moore had a blinder all those years ago.

I live in Fareham and those I have left are all miles away, the nearest being Port Vale and the longest being Barrow!

I now find myself hoping teams get relegated, like Rochdale, purely as I haven't done them, rather than a club I've done!

Hopefully get them all done not next season, but the one after.

I even have a spreadsheet recording all the details! Very sad state of affairs.

A mere 31 of the current 92, though that's only counting one stadium I.e. Roker Park and SOL still only counts as 1.

Been to a couple of grounds in Scotland, Wembley and also to Ajax, Heerenveen and Valarenga.

What new ground is being constructed in the images at the bottom?

Ive read most of the article might have just missed the bit where it gets a mention

I'm back on 92, went to Brentford v Gillingham this season to complete it again.
Must have been to about 120+ as Capy says, with clubs moving.
Have seen Boro at about 75 league clubs away as it were, plus all the European games bar the 2 in Greece.
Was looking forward to a few new ones if Woodgate had stayed in charge!
Done 75 abroad, mainly in Germany - 54.

Of the current 92 grounds I've done 41, lost several due to relegation from the football league and new stadiums coming in.

I do try and target new grounds every season.

I went to that Brentford v Gillingham game.

Loads of neutrals there that night, including this Carlisle fan, as League Cup games are about the only chance of getting in.

59 im on, hoping Wrexham and Notts county come up to boost it up but majority of mine are L1/L2 obviously, so a few away cup ties and a friendly in the summer would be nice but all mine are following Boro, none of this neutral fan nonsense :ROFLMAO:
