Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert's recent comments are interesting to say the least.

That's certainly a potential outcome. With other viruses is the more likely too. The variants of this one seem to get stronger though

Yeah, I think the most common thoughts are the more a virus is able to spread, and the more time goes on, the less potent they become and the better healthcare adapts.

Healthcare could even adapt further with changes to vaccines, but the fact that the vaccines were developed in about a couple of month, and haven't really had any adaptations pushed through since, kind of says it all, they're more than good enough and seemingly will also be the future, albeit maybe with more boosters in the most at risk.

A virus' best interest is in spreading rapidly as possible, not killing its host, that why we ended up with rapid spreading Delta, which is seemingly no more lethal than Alpah, or the original.

Delta looked worse in India, as their healthcare is terrible, but all the numbers over there were fudged anyway, they've had way more cases and deaths than they let on.

The latest figure for R is 0.8 to 1.0, which reflects what was happening 3 weeks ago due to delays in infection, testing etc.
I would have thought it's a smidgen above 1 again given the small daily increases in infections.

I really don't know what to expect this winter.

All good mate. All good
Great. I enjoyed my holiday from the board. I did miss some posters bear being my favourite for his one liner put downs, usually aimed at me. Some posters I just had to step away from I wouldn't dream of mentioning those SMALL minded posters from unknown TOWNS.

Ja think ill get away with that 😁
