The Gazette is finished the Northern Echo is the go to paper/website for Boro news

Craig Johns in the Gazette is in a difficult position - the Friday Media Conference becomes segmented to provide daily articles - alongside any new developments at the club or information doing the rounds on social media.

I think the Gazette in general are in a difficult position. I think we all remember when they tried to go after the club a number of years ago and were effectively locked out of the club as a result. But being effectively a propaganda tool of the club, as they are at present, is ridiculous and benefits nobody apart from the club. There has to be a balance to be found where reasonably negative reporting is accepted, as the Northern Echo have started to do.

Well done to Scott Wilson for the article.

I agree about BBC Tees also. It is bad enough losing then you switch the radio on the way back from the game and Maddo is on the radio.

I actually miss Slaven on the radio as at least he said how it was.

Surely we can get a better pundit than Maddison on BBC Tees. Hignett speaks well and he covers Liverpool fc domestically.

If you listened to Tees on Saturday night with Dana Malt with them it was far from positive. I think people have an idea and stick to it.

The one thing I don't understand on the Gazette is Dom Shaw. He is the Boro Editor but never writes an article. It is always Craig Johns. That seems strange.

Telling opening paragraph from Wilson...

When Steve Gibson sacked Chris Wilder at the start of the month, he began the search for a manager capable of reigniting Middlesbrough’s flatlining play-off push. Three games on, and with the hunt for a new boss about to enter its third week, the goalposts have shifted. Now, the priority is to appoint someone who can keep the Teessiders out of League One.

I really think the Cattermole talk is BS. Feel like I would of heard something if he was in with a serious shout at getting it.

External appointment is a MUST

Where did the Cattermole talk even come from? I know some would like to think someone from the club floated it to test the reaction but I don’t buy that. Did it just come from someone sticking £50 on or something?

Some clarity is badly needed, whether that is the appointment of a new permanent manager or formal clarification that the current temporary set-up will remain in place for a prolonged period of time. Limping through from game to game is no longer a viable option when results are nosediving and the mood around the Riverside Stadium is turning toxic.

Myself and various other posters have been crying out for communication from the club since Wilder's sacking, but still nothing comes. The silence is appalling in my opinion... shows a terrible lack of leadership. There's been nothing since the morning of Wilder's departure.

A 3-4 minute video of Scott being interviewed detailing what the plan is, what process the club are going through, what steps they're taking in searching for the new manager, what structure the new man will fit into, the qualities they're looking for, some reassurance that the club is moving in the right direction, what time frame the club are working towards.. it's not F***ing rocket science or hard to do FFS.

A 'club sources said' from the Gazette is not effective communication from the club.

Maddo cannot say what we all see, as he'd probably lose his job at MFC.
He’s said we’ve been poor and/or made poor decisions in every single game I’ve heard him commentate on this season, which is six games I think. I didn’t hear the Blackburn, Coventry or Millwall comms. but I doubt he was gushing with praise during those matches.

Again, just because he isn’t demanding people are sacked or saying the chairman should sell up doesn’t mean he isn’t critical of things that merit it.

I obviously don't catch anything of the conversation on there for away games but when I get back in the car after home games, they do generally talk a load of nonsense and club biased rubbish.

I'm not expecting the ridiculous 'Gibbo needs to sell up" that you get from fans that haven't even seen the team kick a ball, but Maddison won't have anyone questioning the club or the players during the phone in. "You can't say that, they're young lads, they're giving their all" and "I've been in dressing rooms like that and I know, those lads are hurting but get behind them because they're good players and the season isn't as bad as you think".

On Saturday there was also some back handed mocking of disgruntled texts coming in from Paul Addison.

Multiple journalists saying he was under serious consideration.

Where are they getting this information from though? Are they same journalists who had Mike Phelan down as our manager a few years back? I’m not having a go, but just don’t think the club will be leaking or releasing any information on candidates or the process.

Can’t argue with you, I’ve never listened to the phone-in. I’ve heard him criticise during games though.
