The great mobile phone con

Hi there gents. The missus has asked me to sort her a new phone out. She's had an Apple thing for the last 8 or so years but it's not working so well now and doesn't get updates. She's said not Apple this time and for me to choose one.

Anyway, I thought I'd go for a Google phone as they seem reasonably priced and are good for software and security longevity. I tend to like buying the handset rather than taking on a liability, but it actually works out cheaper to do it monthly. There are two recent releases with the cheaper one being about £200 less. I started to do a bit of research to try and find out the difference between the two. Going off reviews, the 'big' difference between them was that the cheaper one has a 6.1 inch display instead of 6.2 inch on the more expensive model and there's a 6 gram difference in weight. That's technology for you - I'll have that £200 in my pocket thanks 🤣

By the way, after a few years with the Apple phone - Apple were caught out doing a software update that made the battery drain quick so you'd have to go and buy a new model. No doubt these EV manus will be doing that when they want to boost sales or increase profits 😆

The 200 quid more one only takes the premium electrons from the charge port leaving the regular or poor electrons for other electronics.

Did Apple get caught burning batteries out early? I thought it was the other way around. They were forced to stop throttling older devices on newer iOS updates weren't they?

My wife is still using an iPhone 7 Plus. Released in 2016 so not far off 8 years old.
That's the one - 7 plus. So it's 7 years not 8 🙂

Nobody with an iPhone calls it an Apple. Ergo another entirely fictitious thread by the board’s saddest fantasist.
Absolutely, I've never heard anyone call an Apple product Apple either 🤣
