The irony

A home secretary who had been found to be a bully (among other things) demanding that people are treated with "respect and dignity", and a sexist (among other things) PM rebuking police over treatment of women.
Their past actions give them no moral ground whatsoever to make such comments.

He did, something he tries to downplay. Conspiring to have a man beaten up is not a good luck for a PM in most countries of the world. However, Boris has cool hair and says funny things so it's OK.
Honestly, I feel this is Britain's worst ever leader and accompanying front bench in our history. Almost to a man they are ideological liars, bullies and thieves.

He seems to get away with it each time because he is charismatic and playing the pompous buffoon seems to resonate with people. He just says what people want him to say. A very clever populist who will change his mind at the drop of a hat if he thinks it will appeal to the country.

I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him but the combination of intelligence, money, charisma and humour is a powerful one.
