For me, they're my musical version of Ant and Dec.
Alright in their own way I suppose, but personally I just don't get them.

Like Lizard says they captured a generation with the strokes ahead of them and the Arctic monkeys behind them but I think more than that, their accessible nature made them totally different.
The original guerilla gigs in houses etc, going out for drinks with fans after gigs - before things got too heavy with the drugs
I loved them and saw all of the individual members play in other projects. My favourite was driving to Newcastle at an hours notice because Dirty Pretty Things had managed to borrow some equipment from another band who were flying out of the airport.
Carl was p1ssed and was running late so when they finally arrived, they played 4 songs and then the other band had to literally leave for a flight so the 100 or so crowd sang along to the rest with Carl acapella.
The songs were the soundtrack to my life from 19-25ish so I'm always going to be biased
My wedding song was the Wolfman song that Pete sang lyrics on. Like you say - music gets youMusic gets you doesn't it - and this lot do it for me.
I remember vividly watching (pretty sure it was something NME TV) and they played Don't Look Back with the video of Pete and Carl going around London. I called in the kids and my missus from the other room and we just fell in love with it.
From then on they have been our 'emotional' family band.
Seen them a number of times, as well as Babyshambles and Pete on his own. witnessing extremes of shambolic to hypnotic. His first gig after leaving prison was an absolute joy.
My missus and I have a dance song - Song For Heroes'
Fortunately, my two lads have now got over their embarrassment of watching their auld dad bouncing around to it.
I went to an Others guerilla gig in a record store in Leeds, was chaos. Dominic also introduced me to Mick Jones on another occasion.I love the idea of a guerilla gig. Sad that was such a short lived phenomenon. There was some great recordings made of the libertines which were clearly recorded in people's flats. I have a great video of the others doing a gig on a tube train
Anyone remember this song? Such a good song and the video captures the time perfectly.
Absolutely mega album for sure. Kicks the **** out of the second one which was polished by comparison.Huge fan back in the day too. was 17 in 2002 so a great time for them. Up the Bracket is still a fantastic listen all the way through start to finish. Full of chaos and great tunes. Sums up that period of wild nights out etc.
Quality tune. Doherty's not everbodys' cup of tea but around that time he had a real aura about him.Anyone remember this song? Such a good song and the video captures the time perfectly.
Super song, had no idea they basically filmed the video in the street. It's 5 minutes away from my workplace.Anyone remember this song? Such a good song and the video captures the time perfectly.
I'd also recommend '22 Grand Pod'. Harry and Tom from the Paddingtons' podcast.Super song, had no idea they basically funked the video in the street. It's 5 minutes away from my workplace.
For those into music of this period, check out the Boys in the band podcast which isn't just about the libs but other bands of that time
