The long Jubilee beer and music thread

Well folks, given that it's a long weekend I thought I'd start early with the usual thread...

I'm in Lisbon currently having booked my hotel and flight a couple of years ago initially for the Aerosmith tour. Sadly, its been cancelled but we've come here regardless.

Just tucked into a tremendous first pint of a very strong 10.5% Gulden Draak (@BoroFur might be your type of thing?)

As for a song to get us started How's about a bit of Dream On by Aerosmith.

Hope you all enjoy the long weekend 🍻

Gulden Draak  My first foray into any kind of craft/trappist ale was a few bottles of this stuff! Had gone away with the boys and ordered a bottle in a beautiful cellar bar in Bruges, I'm sure I only picked it because of the abv haha.

Beautiful stuff, I bought bottles of it every single Christmas for about 4 or 5 years following that holiday, opened up a new world to me in terms of beers that weren't just your run of the mill mass produced stuff I was used to, this was before the craft beer craze really took off over here.

Nice, where's that?

We're there next Wednesday (albeit one night only before a train to Porto). Got a craft beer and natural wine place lined up (next door no less) but one of these to round off the night would be great.

It's in a bar imaginatively called 'British Bar' down by the port. Will head there later for the Scotland v Ukraine game but as us Northumbrians would say 'Gan Canny' on the Gulden Draak.

That is sensational WeeGord 🤩. Careful mind, many more of those and you'll be walking around with pencils up your nostrils and your undies wrapped round your head 🤣

I'd noticed it was pretty potent stuff. The lady at the bar offered up a 25cl or 33cl alternative but, not realising it was 10.5% I was adamant we wanted 50cl each. Wont be drinking too many of those however tempting it may be as its lovely stuff.

That's 5.25 units in just one serving 😮

Off to see The Music tomorrow for the first time since seeing them at The Empire back in 2005 I think. Support from the Cribs and The Coral so decent evening planned. Can't wait

No doubt the drinks will be restricted to some awful warm flat lager at £7 a pint so very envious of your beer pic. Looks perfect!

One of their lesser known tracks that I've been listening to a fair bit in the run up to tomorrow

Nice one! That's one hell of a lineup.

Thanks, might check it out next week. (y)

You might still be there if you have many more :)

Bumface endorses this thread. Nice work again from WeeGord. Is there ever a weekend where WeeGord isn't away somewhere? Does he ever spend any time at home?

Still a bit early for me so there's no brown booze yet. There is some music though. And the sun is shining and all is well. Listening to this at the moment:

Happy Wednesday fellas. Enjoy your weekend.

Well since I'm currently sat in the club house in Haven Marton Mere the level of music tonight will probably reach the giddy heights of......
