The most talented Boro players you’ve seen at the Riverside

The best passer of a ball - bobby Murdoch .......................................on his day Rocky was a close second

The best goal scorer - Cloughy no one else comes close

A strange one but the best ball control Leadbitter for just walking across the full width of the pitch passing the ball form one foot to the other

TLF will be the choice of many I get that but Murdoch was unbelievable as was Clough

There were a few others who were more than memorable Viduka and Boksic could be good. Try Ed Holliday or even Delapena they all made memories

Valdes too, you could tell just how good he actually was despite never really wanting to be at the club. Didnt ever think we would get anyone from that Barcelona side playing for Middlesbrough

Apart from the obvious ones, surprised Traore wasnt mentioned. Sad that his career seems to have stalled. Really hoped after that good run of form he would go to one of the top clubs. Imagine how good he would be under Pep/Klopp

Good call.

in that last 6 months before we sold him he was unbelievable…. Like someone had unlocked a cheat code on the PlayStation that made him twice as fast as anyone else on the pitch

Now this might be controversial as I know how good he was at Barca but I was underwhelmed by his performances at the riverside maybe as you say his heart wasn’t in it but I was expect a lot more than what we got.

Agree. Harder for a keeper to show it perhaps but I saw no hints of the player he used to be while he was playing for us. Bang average.

Emerson was the best all round midfielder I’ve ever seen in a boro shirt during those first few months of the 96-97 season. Juninho obviously a close second, how spoilt we were looking back having them both in the same team!

More recently I’d also like to throw in the likes of Tomlin, Ramirez and Traore for their own very different attributes, these 3 coupled with Bamford have been the shining lights of the last barren 14 years at the club.

Different type of talent to the names mentioned but Southgate and Woodgate. Silly how good they were are reading the game and could both play too. I always liked the Maldini quote "if I have to make a tackle I've already made a mistake" and these were the epitome of this.

Woodgate should have been one of the best defenders in the world and we definitely saw glimpses of that.

Southgate unbelievably consistent and put in some world class (or not far off) performances of his own.

Emerson..... Although very much 'when he felt like it' and not with us long enough. Just a fantastic footballer who had it all. He was such a physical specimen. Strong as a ox and the talent to go with it.

A 'controversial' one..... Merson. I know he left under a cloud and it was in the championship. Yet in terms of a one season wonder as good as I've seen. The guy was 9/10 every week and way to good for that league. A pure joy to watch.

Also a shout out for Traore. I don't think he's anywhere near the 'best' (poor end product). Yet in terms of actual on the edge of a seat explosive power and excitement he's getting a mention. Also quite recent👍

Defenders... Southgate and Woody just made the art of defending look easy.

I'm also throwing in Schwarzer. I know he's a keeper. We sometimes forget just how good he was for around 4-5 years. Arguably one of the best in the prem.

For half a season Emerson was the best midfielder in the country. Sadly his brains were all in his feet. Souness was superb at dominating the midfield. Juninho the most exciting to watch. After those; Viduka and Boksic. Imho

Emerson... 'brains in his feet'

I'm stealing that😂😂
