The most talented Boro players you’ve seen at the Riverside

Carlos Marinelli was one of the most talented players we ever had, just never seemed to have the brain to put it together.

juninho, Emerson and Boksic for me. Merse misses out as it was mainly outside the prem.

Alun Armstrong was my favourite in 98. What a finisher the guy was. Would have liked to see him in the Premier league.

Obviously Juninho but loved The unsung heroes. Festa, Ehiogu, Ricard. Beck, Rochemback,

Ricard was a fantastic player. I'd say probably our most important player in that first season back up in the prem.

Wasn't just his goals, it was his all round play. Defenders couldn't knock him off the ball, strong as an ox. Which is just well as it must've been one of the slowest midfields we'd ever had playing behind him: Townsend, Gazza, Mustoe, Maddison.

Yeah he had the odd game where he couldn't trap a bag of cement, but far more good than bad. On his day just as good as the likes of Ravanelli, Hasselbaink, Viduka. Just ask Sol Campbell.
 
Few people getting talent, application and mentality confused.

Zenden, for example, made the absolute maximum of what he had but he should by no means be considered in a discussion for most talented players to play for Boro at the Riverside.

More recently I’d also like to throw in the likes of Tomlin, Ramirez and Traore for their own very different attributes, these 3 coupled with Bamford have been the shining lights of the last barren 14 years at the club.
