The mysterious case of Sammy Ameobi

Weirdest transfer of recent times - Rajiv Van Le Parra. Only a loan from Huddersfield and much a fuss about him being the speedy winger we were crying out for. Supposedly home sick after arriving from Huddersfield. Don’t think he ever played for us did he?

One start and four sub appearances. I saw one of them (away at WBA) and can confirm he wasn't just a figment of anyone's imagination, although perhaps his talent was.

If my memory is right did we not chase him for most of the summer but failed to get over the line before the august transfer window slammed shut, then signed him in January to virtually cast him aside?

Pulis does this at every club.

Signs a winger on loan so he can silence the people who say he doesn't like skilful players, then doesn't play them and claims they're not good enough. Doesn't cost him much because it's only a loan player. Also did it with Jack Harrison at Boro, and (hilariously) Serge Gnabry at WBA, who only made one appearance for his entire loan spell there.

No he injured his back. Waa carrying injury when he joined us and didn't recover so sent back to Huddersfield in the end.

Are we any the wiser what happened? Has the club or Ameobi ever discussed his reported injury problems? Is he retired?

Stay tuned for tomorrows thread : Has the Viduka insurance money come through yet?
Forced fo retire.
Remember Neil Warnock's christmas card to me saying he would never play for Boro. Will never play again, sadly. I wonder what he is doing now?

It’s just strange that Ameobi himself doesn’t appear to have commented publicly on his injury or announced his retirement like most footballers do (unless I’ve missed this).

Yeah, sounds like Pulis, although strangely he did coax a song out of Traore.

Pulis and Warnock, oh my word. I hope we're done with that breed for good, I really do.

I saw his 1st half v Peterborough in cup 0-0 he got taken off. We won 2nd half 5-0

The strangest transfer has to be that midfielder from Watford. Karanka was after the players from Spain but we end up with him and Gestede. Bizarre recruitment.

In the 2011-12 season, Adlene Guedioura won the "Goal of the Season" award for two different clubs. Remarkable, especially considering his subsequent "performances" in a Boro shirt.
