The poor kid killed by a dog

How did the 60 year old woman get away with a caution after that? Surely there should be jail time.

Walsall is only in Staffordshire in the way that Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire
So Walsall is in Staffordshire then?

It's an interesting psychological link though. I'll admit I saw the story and immediately thought of this thread despite not really being involved with it.

My personal experience with dogs is so bad that I'd happily see them all banned from being off leads in shared public spaces.

Dog owners, in my experience, don't understand just how much their beloved family member can affect other people. They are also uniformly surprised when their dog does something they've just spent 5 minutes telling you it never does.

I don't often agree with this lot of Tories but it's the correct decision to ban those dogs. Why anyone would want to own an animal like that is beyond me.

Naughty headline from Sky. BBC went with “in Walsall”. Walsall is only in Staffordshire in the way that Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire…. It’s now part of West Mids Council.

Very sad though

They said near Walsall, which it is.

Walsall isn't in Staffordshire anymore though, it's in the ceremonially county of West Midlands now.

Middlesbrough is in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire still.

Interesting thread having just read most of it for the first time.

I know everyone says this about their dog but my 7 year old Yorkie is such a softie, never once seen her growl or bark at another dog or human. Even when playing when she was a pup she never tried to bite as most dogs do.

I'm not sure why she's like this as she is my first dog so not like I have years of experience of training. My impressions of yorkshire terrier's before I got one was that they were ankle biters and not particularly friendly.

She's even scared of walking through a puddle.

This adult death announced today, and the attack on the kid (both in Walsall), has it been confirmed they were both these American monster things?

All dogs should be on a lead outside the house , whatever breed

And I'm not asking the obvious dog haters to like my post because I disagree with a lot they say

If your dog attacks someone outside you are responsible - and should be charged. If your dog is off a lead outside your house and kills someone you should be charged with manslaughter

Banning of certain breeds is possibly an answer, but certainly having to muzzle them outside should be looked at in my opinion

How are they gonna kill them? I can't imagine they're going to go quietly, most people treat dogs like family regardless what breed, there will be some responsible owners who are going to get in the firing line.

I've seen RSPCA take up to that point well behaved illegal breeds and they were then killed. Though admittedly they were brought in as the owners were Tv.v atty animal abusers
