The Silence Of The Bangs

Lucky for you, my road and driveway is littered with sticks off fireworks, I’m hoping that big stick on my drive hasn’t scratched my car on the way down

Yep a non stop barrage of fireworks, bangers and mini explosions for the last 45 minutes here too.

Probably heard half a dozen bangs and saw two rockets in the distance.
I know a lot of shows and people attended something last night but even so this is the quietest Nov 5th I can recall.
You're lucky, mate. It's been like a warzone here for the last three nights. Still going on now and it's really peeing me off. Weird how everyone is supposed to be skint but they can afford to waste a load of money buying pointless and really annoying fireworks. I just burnt my Suella Braverman effigy in the back garden and left it at that. There's no need for all this noise.

I've had to drive to the middle of nowhere to calm my poor dog down 😞
Years ago I had a bearded collie and a young border collie. The bearded collie was scared sh*tless of fireworks and the pup wasn't bothered by them at all. Bobby (the beardie) really liked music so the best thing to do on bonfire night was to just turn the stereo up really loud so that he couldn't hear the fireworks. He was a big fan of the first Urusei Yatsura album. 'Black Hole Love' was his favourite track.

It’s been ridiculous in Billingham. Non stop for 4 hours. What a way to damage hearing and scare the **** out of lots of animals.

Ingleby resembles a soundtrack from a war film just now…

Feeling for my poor dog but she’ll settle eventually.. been her least stressful year for as long as I can remember..
I can't understand why there seems to be a desire to make fireworks louder and louder. I'm sure I remember multicoloured fireworks but now they all seem to be white and deafening.

It’s strange to celebrate an event that actually failed!

The celebration started over the fact it failed.

But it is funny that it's taken on a glorification of the most famous of what were effectively terrorists, and that a big part of the reason for the plot was to prevent England merging with Scotland.

There may be some people who don’t know the outcome of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 despite other social media outlets reporting it.

Please be aware of the unwritten rules! Spoiler alert in the thread title please!!!
ok, you enjoy taking the **** out of me while I’m trying to find a way of numbing the pain of the anniversary of my wife’s death…I hope you feel really F***ing good about your bullying behaviour on someone having a tough tough day. You utter lowlife

I’m sorry to hear that. You called someone an idiot which, in my view, was uncalled for.

That was the reason, nothing else. I’m sorry you are having a tough time.
So why did you take it onto another thread with more smarmy comments; who made you the moral police around here, or moral vigilante? I’d already said I shouldn’t have called him an idiot, but that wasn’t enough for you, you wanted blood. It’s the behaviour of a bully, you said your piece, (in an abusive way) on the other thread so why did you start it again here? You’re not sorry for that are you? Yet I’m the arrogant one apparently and contrition goes a long way apparently

I wasn’t abusive. I was taking the pee.

I’m sorry you are going through a tough time. That doesn’t give you an excuse for calling someone an idiot.

I don’t want to upset you further, so will leave it there.
No you don’t want to apologise for bullying behaviour that’s what you don’t want to do. You went out of the way to have a go at me on another thread that had nothing to do with me, and accused me of arrogance, that’s not taking the pee, own your words man.

I’ll repeat I already said I shouldn’t have called him that in my frustration. And you had the gall to talk to me about contrition, now you are just showing moral cowardice by pretending to leave the discussion for my good, when actually you don’t want to maybe admit your behaviour was less than decent either.

glorification of the most famous of what were effectively terrorists, and that a big part of the reason for the plot was to prevent England merging with Scotland.
I always thought it was because of the religious persecution of the Catholics and by taking out King James I of England and VI of Scotland, his wife and his heir they hoped that a successor would be tolerant or even Catholic.

As such, we never celebrated Bonfire Night when we were kids.
