* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Ipswich Match - Day Thread *

Game felt a bit like the Millwall game for me, effort was there but never felt we would impose ourselves on the opposition.

These only come up this season and are a much better team than us. How is that allowed to happen.
We have built half a squad and have half that squad unavailable, they have a settled unit that got them promoted, everyone knows the system and there role.

But IMO Ipswich where not a good team and would be surprised if they finished second, is was like watching Boro in the mirror only we where misfiring, with a fully fit squad I feel we would comfortable beat Ipswich, that being said the was well a truly an off day so many poor performances.

Just wasn't any entertainment in the game for me today wasn't freeflowing attacking football we gave Ipswich too much respect didn't press them at all really. Morsy had the freedom of the Riverside to bomb balls down the flanks

I agree, we stood off them far too much today. Even in the 2nd half we were standing off them and I really wanted to see us get in their faces and make them work.

Weirdly results sort of went our way today too so it’s good we’re only 3 points off 6th. Just need to dust ourselves down and put a big effort it Wednesday to get a vital 3 points and get ourselves back on a winning run.

That was a shocker.
Ipswich didnt need to get out of second gear.
Crooks deserves a thick ear for behaving like a petulant child, when he should have been providing leadership and support to other players, alongside Jonny Howson.
He wasnt the only one - none of them deserved above 5/10 today.
The passing was dreadful, as was the co-ordination and communication between the players.
That was a Third Division standard "performance" game and we will hopefully quickly move on and get our act together.

We weren't very good today roofie but there was obvious reasons for that.

As you intimated the senor players have to shoulder a lot of the blame. Lacked leadership and someone to help a very inexperienced team.

I don’t get the criticism - I wonder if everyone will be moaning when we are in the play-offs at the end of the season.
Even if we aren’t this season - we are building.

Very disappointing, but we must step up and make amends on Wednesday night (y)

Say it like it is? Then say it like it really is, we are having to put out under strength teams as the 8 absentees would all be walking into a starting 11 if fit, ergo the available squad is poorer and performances will match. Simple
Right and? Are the team still not allowed to called poor? It doesn't matter how many players are out, we lost last week to Leeds, I didn't say we were poor then.
It's just my opinion though and I will say it like I say it, get used to it.

We will be nowhere near the playoffs and we will back two steps not building when Hackney is pawned in the summer

I do think we will be in the top six at the reckoning, but we never looked like scoring yesterday.

The body language of the players trudging off at half time was worrying. We need some of the injuries to be mended and players back into contention.

And an extra striking option.

You’d like to think the fringe players would be busting a gut to prove they should be starting and make it hard for the absentees to get back into the side. Much the way McNair did in Lenihans absence.

Instead, they just looked to be feeling sorry for themselves.
