* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Plymouth Argyle Match-Day Thread *

How is it rubbish exactly? We have a run of fixtures coming up that are Leicester (1st), Bristol City (10th), Preston (6th), Leeds (3rd), Ipswich (2nd), Hull (9th), Swansea (13th), West Brom (5th).

With the exception of maybe Bristol and Swansea, we couldn't ask for a harder run of fixtures, we could easily go winless, we've already done it once this season.

True, but....six weeks ago Watford, Sunderland and Norwich away, and in form Cardiff and Birmingham and highly fancied Southampton looked a bloody hard run of fixtures.

Play offs at best for us, but am happy with that. We are playing some good stuff and developing players. I fancy us to beat anyone.

It was always play offs at best with how well Ipswich and Leicester started compared to how bad we started.

We'll have a tough job even getting in the play-offs with how weak we are at the back in games.

As long as Carrick is here next season though, it's a learning curve and we're not going down.

I thought overall we dominated. Their first was a good goal. Their second is a great strike but collectively we could have defended better. Right back continues to be a concern. Time for Dijksteel to given a run.

Second half, it was a great comeback. They didn’t have a shot on goal prior to the free kick that drops in. Hugely frustrating and on another day we could have scored 6-7 goals.

That’s a recurring theme though. Last seasons full strength side would have destroyed Plymouth today. That’s not taking away from the current squad. They played well but we just aren’t quite as clinical at the moment. That said, if you score 3 away from home you should really win.

I’ll take a point but it should have been more. Credit to Plymouth though. They played some good stuff at times. Good game.

I don't think it's a case of 'when we defend' though. This is the way we play and we back ourselves to score more than the opposition. Play that game 10 times and we win more than we lose.

Thought Coburn was good today - put himself about, held the ball up well - but I'd love us to sign an experienced goal-hungry striker in January. Be great if we could get Akpom back...
Hackney just gets better and better and provided he stays fit, I think we'll make the play-offs and could even go straight up with a fair wind. Dijksteel should come in for sure, and though Greenwood's tidy enough, I'd still play Rodgers there.

Shocking decisions from the ref, who bottled it big time.

I call ballhooks too.

Now that the side know each other, the kind of horrendous run that we went on at the start of the season is extremely unlikely to happen again, especially with our massive list of walking wounded starting to come back into the fold.

Granted I wouldn't expect to keep up the run we had since Sheff Wed up until Stoke either, but it doesn't need to be quite that strong to make the playoffs, much less top ten.👍

I felt when we scored the opening goal we were well on top and had numerous chances especially the Jones one when he had to just pass to Coburn who was clean through on goal but hit the defender. Then Howson even started having pop shots. We got too cocky then they scored and we were soon behind. We have to take the chances when we get them we had chances to score 8+ goals today

I agree. I place no blame on Dieng for that goal.
Agree. A defending player at least has a chance of winning the ball, and if doesn't, Dieng is back to have a chance with the save.

If he comes for that he HAS to win it, otherwise it's an almost certain goal. Can completely understand him staying back. All in all, it's a fantastic cross which has done everyone on the pitch, including Plymouth's attackers.

Just seen the highlights. Terrible terrible defending for the first goal, real school boy stuff. Second goal can't do much about them. Third goal I can't tell if its unlucky, ***** from Engel, poor from Dieng or what? Looks like 2 points dropped to me

I thought when the torrential rain came it levelled it for them otherwise we were on top. You can say its the same for both teams but living down here I recognised a long time ago the teams get used to the weather and play it to their advantage, the same for football and the same for rugby.

Just listened to both Josh's and Carricks interviews, they both appeared frustrated not to win the game, O think it's good as in that interview that's one of the first times I've seen Carrick seem so frustrated in a result, hopefully we can use that and start really sharp next Saturday in a game that could be excellent.

We create so many good opportunities to either score a goal or to potentially create something to score a goal in every game and we really need just more clinical finishing to kill things off.

Crooks excellent t for the goal but then took what appeared to be coburns ball from Hackney and was to casual in the finish, also had a rash left foot volley totally miss hit that he should of scored with following a great run.

Jones multiple opportunities to play the right ball for a 1on 1 or to set someone up.

Even Rogers at the end with an excellent turn and shot.

Hackney volley, there were so many chances and its the same most weeks, we are such a good team at times as well as being frustrating but we are back on an unbeaten run with the quarter final of the cup coming, we would of taken this before a ball was kicked, plus players are bedding in, get forss, obrien, mcgree and lenihan back hopefully post international break we will ha e some good results to come.

I wonder if we are thinking about a new deal for Carrick he only signed a 2 1/2 year deal or is it too early?

Definitely not too early for me.

I think we'd be daft to not offer Carrick a new contract if we're wanting him here long term.

Wouldn't want to go in to next season with only a year left on his contract, presumably still in the Championship.
